NASCAR Featherlite Modified Tour: CMT Twins Notes

Loudon, NH — The 19th NASCAR Featherlite Modified Tour race of the season, the NFMT portion of the CMT Twins, is scheduled for Saturday, September 13, 1997 at New Hampshire International Speedway in Loudon, N.H. The NASCAR Featherlite Modified Tour will compete in a 100-lap event. It will be the fourth and final race for the series at NHIS in 1997, Mike Stefanik (May), Tim Connolly (July) and Jan Leaty (Aug.) have all scored victories at NHIS in 1997.– Posted awards for the 100-lap race are $115,195. Qualifying is scheduled to take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12. The top 26 cars will advance to the feature. The remaining four positions will be available for provisional starters. Saturday’s NASCAR Featherlite Modified Tour 100-lap race will take place immediately following the NASCAR Busch North Series 100-lap companion race.

– The CMT Twins will be televised live on The Nashville Network.  

 – This will be the 24th NASCAR Featherlite Modified Tour race held at NHIS. Current series drivers with victories at NHIS are: Tim Connolly, Mike Ewanitsko, Tony Hirschman (3), Jan Leaty, Reggie Ruggiero (5) and Mike Stefanik (3).

– The series qualifying record at NHIS is 130.918 mph (29.093 seconds) set by Mike Ewanitsko on 4/14/91.  

 – The 100-lap race record for the series is 90.556 mph (1 hour, 10 minutes at 6 seconds), set by Mike Stefanik 5/31/97.

– The 1997 New Hampshire International Speedway NASCAR Featherlite Modified Tour Track Championship will also be decided at this race. Currently, Jan Leaty leads the standings with 505 points. Tim Connolly is second with 482 followed by Tommy Cravenho 477 and Rick Fuller 452. Mike Stefanik and Tony Hirschman are tied at 451.

– During the 1997 season there have been 124 lead changes on the NASCAR Featherlite Modified Tour for an average of 6.9 per event.

– To date, 97 different drivers have attempted to qualify for at least one NASCAR Featherlite Modified Tour race.
