Extreme Family Fun Night offers fun on all levels

Thompson, CT — After a very successful season-opening ICEBREAKER, the Thompson Int’l Speedway now sets its sights on the first summer holiday weekend program of the summer.

Saturday, May 25th Thompson Int’l Speedway will present its first “Extreme Family Fun Night”. These programs are great family entertainment and have been reworked this year to provide fans with a thrill-a-minute, fast-paced program. “We have restructured our programs this year so that fans will enjoy a full night of entertainment yet be headed home at a very reasonable hour,” said track owner and promoter, Don Hoenig. “We have moved our Family Fun Nights to Saturday nights and have them rain dated for Sundays,” he concluded.

The “Extreme Family Fun Night” will include two divisions of racecars and the American Race Trucks. Once the races are complete, the program will shift to other exciting entertainment including the incredible Green Mamba Jet Powered car that destroys automobiles by melting them down to nothing. The Green Mamba first appeared at Thompson last year and was a huge hit with the track’s fans. In addition, the Doug Danger World Class Motorcycle Thrill show will take to the speedway for an encore performance of high-flying jumps, wheelies and more. The Oxygen Channel’s Greta Gaines, host of the TV show FREERIDE, will have a crew on hand to film Doug as he jumps over two school busses parked end to end. This is all part of an upcoming Oxygen Network feature on Doug Danger which will be centered around a spectacular jump that he will be doing at Thompson on Labor Day weekend. Another fan favorite will return to smoke up the nighttime air when the Muscle Car Burn-Out and smoke show performs directly in front of the grandstands. Once the smoke clears, a major school bus demolition derby will thrill kids of all ages. The evening will be topped off by a spectacular fireworks display that has become a holiday weekend tradition at Thompson.

The Thompson pit area will open at 1 PM with practice sessions beginning at 1:45 PM. Grandstands will open at 2 PM. Racecars and trucks will qualify for the evening’s events beginning at 4:30PM with the program slated to begin with feature events at 6 PM. Adult admission is only $15.00 with junior tickets (ages 8-15) priced at only $5.00 and those 7 years and under admitted absolutely free. Thompson Int’l Speedway will kick off its NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge on Thursday, June 6th . Featured will be five divisions of racecars including the Sunoco Modifieds, Pro Stocks, Late Models, Limited Sportsman and Mini Stocks. Copies of the track’s weekly racing schedule are available by calling the Thompson Int’l Speedway at (860)-923-2280. Schedules may also be found on the track’s web site at www.thompsonspeedway.com.
