Waterford 150 Pit Notes

  •  The 3rd Featherlite Modified Series, NASCAR Touring race of the 2002 season, the Waterford 150 is scheduled for Saturday, May 11 at the Waterford Speedbowl in Waterford, Conn.
  • Bud Pole Qualifying is scheduled to be held at 5:00 p.m. for positions 1-25. The fastest qualifier will determine the redraw of the Top 6, 8 or 10 cars. Four provisional positions – based on the 2001 Featherlite Modified Series season points standings (two driver, two car owner) – and a past champion provisional is available for a maximum starting field of 30 cars. The Waterford 150 is scheduled to start at approximately 8:30 p.m.
  •  The Waterford 150 will be the final event of the 2002 season to use 2001 points in determining provisional starting positions.

  • Posted awards for the Waterford 150 are $67,675.
  •  The Waterford 150 will be the first of two appearances for the Featherlite Modified Series at the Connecticut shoreline 3/8 mile oval in 2002.
  •  The Featherlite Modified Series last event at Waterford was on Sept. 1, 2001. Eddie Flemke was the winner of that race.
  •  Six other series races have been held at Waterford. Rick Donnelly won the first on June 19, 1985. Later that year Ray Miller won the second race of the 1985 season. Mike McLaughlin was the winner of the 1986 race. Jimmy Spencer won the 1987 event. Jerry Marquis won in Sept. of 2000 and Reggie Ruggiero was the winner in May of 2001. The Speedbowl is the only track on the 2002 schedule that has hosted at least four events and never had a repeat winner.
  •  Current series drivers Rick Fuller (finished 7th), and Jamie Tomaino, (finished 8th) were among the 24 drivers who participated in the first series event in June of 1985.
  •  Leo Cleary was the winner of the first Bud Pole at Waterford in 1985.
  •  The series qualifying record at Waterford is 13.731 seconds (98.318) set by Ted Christopher on Sept. 1, 2001
  •  As of May 6, 44 teams have filed entries for the Waterford 150.
