The Anti-Christ has Come (Part 6)

1st John 2:18 “Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour.”

Greetings, in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus! This week, we promised to start identifying those who act in the spirit of the Antichrist, the one opposed to Jesus, the Messiah. These are the ones who act in a way contrary to the mind and attitude of our Lord. 1 John 4:3, “but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.”

LIARS- John 8:44, “You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”

You might say that does not pertain to you. You are not a liar. Or are you? Take tracks who, instead of emphasizing the positive in situations, lie about the negatives. If one of their preferred stars is disqualified, it rarely appears in their press release. If you ask why their concessions cost so much, they say the supplier charges them such a high price; apparently more than you or I can buy it for at Stop and Shop. Your sanctioning body lies to cover up a truth instead of making it known and honestly dealing with it.

How about politicians? Do they lie and therefore act in the spirit of Antichrist? Take Senator Tom Daschle from North Dakota. If you hear he or Representative Dick Gephart comment on our President Bush, you hear blatant lie after lie. They are willing to lie for the sake of trying to get themselves and other members of their party elected to Congress and the Senate. It is lies. It is the spirit of the Antichrist. So, that spirit or attitude is even in the greatest government of the world. Their hope is that your ignorance will be fooled and you will not know better when they speak their lies which are meant to deceive. These men must be defeated as must any other elected official who lies, from both parties.

HE WHO HATES OTHER PEOPLE FOR THEIR OWN GAIN- 1 Corinthians 10:24, “Nobody should seek his own good, but the good of others.” There is a problem with the Roman Catholic church. Since we are not RC, it is none of our business how they deal with it. Our concern is the unreported crimes on children and teenagers. If the church wants to allow homosexuals and pedophiliacs to be priests, that is not our business. But if these people commit the crime of molesting pre-teens if a pedophile or younger teens if homosexual, that is everyone’s concern. If an officer of the church tries to hide the criminal by moving him from place to place and community to community, that is everyone’s business. Those who commit these crimes must be convicted and jailed. Those, who by hiding the problem to protect their concern are obstructing justice and that is a crime and these people should also be convicted. Some in that denomination have hidden crimes, preferring to save their own deal rather than seek other people’s benefit first. The devil is also selfish.

But what about you? Do you give other people the shaft in business or other ways so that you can benefit? Do you treat others as less important than yourself? That is the spirit of Antichrist.

TERRORISM- In the future, we will talk more about this. But for now, Jesus said in Luke 25-31, “There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. Men will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken. At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” He told them this parable: “Look at the fig tree and all the trees. When they sprout leaves, you can see for yourselves and know that summer is near. Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that the kingdom of God is near.”

Osama Bin Laden, Palestine’s Yassar Arafat, Sudam Hussein and their minions kill defenseless people. They blow up people. They send airplanes into buildings. They even kill their own people to keep control for themselves. They let their people starve while they eat in royal fashion. Their aim is to strike terror into people’s hearts. they are bullies. They also deny the Messiah of the Jews and the Christians in favor of some guy who died and his tomb remains in Jerusalem. They call Jesus a good man and a prophet, but deny His relationship to God. they lie and say this man ascended into heaven. Yet the only historical record of that ever happening is with Jesus and none other. These people are acting as servants of the Antichrist and should be treated as such. And we know better than to deal with the devil.

What are you doing in this life that imitates and encourages the spirit of Antichrist? what are you doing that opposes the Christ, Jesus? What are you doing that opposes the Kingdom of God? Examine yourself. Find it and flee, as if in terror, from it. Run with all your strength and will and drive to stay close to Jesus and our Father God. Learn what He has to say by reading and studying the Bible. Pray that He may guide you. Seek others interests before your own. Find ways in your everyday life to please the Lord by what you say and do and think. There are two ways to conduct your life on this earth; God’s Way and the way of the Antichrist. Choose you this day whom you will serve. Amen.

CHARLIE BROWN COMES HOME TO THOMPSON- Former NEMMA Pro Four and Pro Stock competitor Charlie Brown will once again return to his roots at the Thompson International Speedway. Brown has entered the May 25th “Family Fun Night” event driving his family owned Gates GMC/Thompson Auto Care Pontiac in the Thompson Mini Stock division. “I’m looking forward to coming back to Thompson. My dad’s got a new car that he’s putting the finishing touches on and if it’s anything like the last car I drove in 2000, it’ll be a fun trip.” Charlie Brown grew up only eight miles from the Thompson Speedway. He has raced at the “Little T” Quarter Midget track located outside of turn four on the Thompson Speedway property. When he was younger, he also sold programs for the Thompson 300 at the front gates of the speedway. He moved to North Carolina in 1990 to pursue a future in racing. Gates open at 2 PM on Saturday, May 25th. Qualifying will start at 4:30 PM. For more information about Thompson Speedway’s “Family Fun Night.”

NAZARETH WEEKEND NOTES: Awesome. The best weekend we ever experienced at the Lehigh Valley speed plant. NEVIN GEORGE scored his first very Modified Series win in an excellent race. He came back from early problems. As he was attempting to pass Carl Pasteryak, the two made contact sending both cars into the infield. They continued. Carl slowed with engine problems, but Nevin was fired-up and ready to go. The Kunkletown, PA driver made his homecoming good as he went non-stop over the 100 laps/miles, took over the lead, and despite a lap-lap charge by Mike Stefanik, scored the hardest win; the career first. It also marked the first-ever win for car owner Ralph Solhem. Solhem had been Crew Chief in one other win many years ago with the late Corky Cookman behind the wheel. Nevin was level-headed, did not panic when Stefanik got on him and showed a lot of savvy. This marks the first big win for the “new breed” drivers in NASCAR’s equivalent to the IRL; the Featherlite Modified Series. Third went to Tony Hirschman over Rob Summers and Ed Flemke. Turning in their best of the season was Fred Vordermeier in 9th, Jamie Tomaino in 12th and Jim Broderick, first-time Nazareth driver, in 18th.

Jerry Marquis reinjured his shoulder and drove a painful race but ran all 100 to finish 15th. It had started to heal, but apparently, he stretched too much putting on the driver’s uniform Saturday and heard a pop. He will rest this week in preparation for Stafford Friday night. See this race on SpeedChannel at 8 PM June 3. BGN driver Jeff Fuller subbed for injured Mike Ewanitsko and came in 11th. There were no injuries during the event. PTL!

(L) TED CHRISTOPHER WAS FLAWLESS IN THE NAZARETH BUSCH NORTH SERIES 100 AND PASSED A VERY INTRICATE SHOCK ABSORBER INSPECTION POST RACE. (R) BILLY PENFOLD (O) LEADS MOST OF THE BUSCH NORTH CARS ENROUTE TO TYING HIS BEST CAREER FINISH IN FOURTH. Ken Spring Photos

Ted Christopher had a faultless car and run to catch leader Matt Kobyluck for the Busch North Series win Saturday. However, Kobyluck really likes Nazareth. Last year he won and this year second. Good average at 1.5. Brad Leighton had a great run for third over Billy Penfold who equaled his career best in fourth. Martin Truex, JR was unhappy at having to go to the rear of the field after failing inspection after Time Trials. But it worked out OK as he came from the back for an outstanding fifth place. The Busch North returns to Northeast reality on the third mile oval in Seekonk, MA. JOE BESSEY told us after Chapel that he will run some of the Busch North events this season. It will be great having him back. No injuries in this event. PTL!

BGN racing saw Jason Keller on a career best season path with his fourth win of the season. However, by far, our deepest concern goes to Jeff Purvis. The soon to be wed BGN driver lost a motor and came to rest on the track near the overpass bridge. As Greg Biffle raced into the turn, he saw the Purvis car way too late to slow down in the oil and what ensued was one of the more violent wrecks we have witnessed. According to NASCAR, After he was airlifted to Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, Pa., Purvis was admitted and listed in serious but stable condition after sustaining a contusion of the left base of the brain and a fracture of the first and second vertebrae, according to Dr. K. Shah, a trauma surgeon at Lehigh Valley. As of Monday morning, he was still listed in serious condition. Our prayers for speedy and complete healing are with Jeff and for peace and faith for his fiancé.

Big Diamond rained-out Friday night with two inches of the wet stuff. However, it did give time for a quiet dinner with track owners Fritz and Krista Roehrig at Fresca’s in Minersville. The track is helping to sponsor the Big Diamond/ Bolles Dodge Intrepid Ministry Pace Car. This has been a tough year and marks their fourth rain-out. And here we are up north with a drought. Grandview fell to the soaking toll of the previous night’s rain and frost warnings for Saturday night. It was a chilly weekend.

KEVIN GUNDAKER & JACK HEWITT TEAM UP FOR ‘THE DREAM’- Midwest dirt Late Model star Kevin Gundaker, recuperating from a recent motorcycle accident which has forced him out of the driver’s seat for the year, has announced that superstar racer Jack “Dew It” Hewitt will be behind the wheel of Gundaker’s Coldwell Banker/Gundaker Realty #11 C. J. Rayburn Race Car for next month’s THE DREAM race at the legendary Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, OH on June 7-8. The race pays the winner $100,000.

This weekend, see you at Stafford Friday for the FMS and Seekonk Saturday for the BNS. Take time this Memorial Day weekend to remember the wonderful members of our country’s military who gave their lives to keep us free.

DOLLAR DRIVE- We have wondered how to overcome the daily financial needs of this ministry. Wall Speedway Ass’t Chaplain Jim Chapin and myself were on the phone the other night. He pointed out that between “Area Auto Racing News” plus our website and the five other websites who syndicate the web column, just how many people read this every week. He said, “Boy, if everyone would just contribute one dollar, that would solve everything.”

It was like a light came on in my mind. Not everyone can afford to do as much as they would like, but what if everyone did just a little? So, beginning with this issue and running until June 20, my birthday, we are asking everyone who reads this column to send just one dollar to the ministry. If you would do this it would solve all the problems and it really would make us all a team in our goal of winning souls to the Lord and helping them grow in the knowledge and grace of God.

So, please join us in this effort. If you send that dollar with your return address, we will send you a letter with receipt. And when this is over, we will let you know in this column, how many joined you in this effort.

Your support is appreciated and needed. Consider becoming an RWJM partner and do your best to help offset the financial needs of this ministry with your tax-deductible gifts.
