Annual RAC Banquet Open to Public

Westbrook, CT — For the first time in the charitable foundation’s 11-year history, the Racing Against Cancer™ Team will open their annual awards celebration to the public. The special ceremony will take place at Noon on Saturday, November 10, 2007 in the Tahoe Room in the Grand Pequot Tower at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Ledyard, CT.

Similar to regular awards banquets, the Racing Against Cancer™ (RAC) Team will recognize the accomplishments of its teams and team members. A variety of awards will be presented to the teams and organizations that have excelled during the 2007 season.

These great competitors; however, will be honored for their feats off the race track. They will be revered for their fundraising efforts on behalf of the Racing Against Cancer™ Team. From winning contributions, to the sale of raffle tickets and other novelty items, to special events, the countless team members are the driving force behind the overall success of the RAC and their fight against cancer.

Also being honored will be the race tracks and racing organizations that provide valuable support of the program. The highlight of the event will be the presentation of funds to the various charities support by the Racing Against Cancer™ Program including the American Cancer Society, David’s House, and the Tomorrow Fund.

Through the tireless efforts of nearly 50 dedicated members of the racing community, tens of thousands of dollars are raised each year for cancer-related charities and programs. Since 1997, the cumulative fundraising effort of the Racing Against Cancer™ Program exceeds a half-million dollars.

Each team member of the Racing Against Cancer™ Program is motivated by their own personal experiences. The emotional ceremony brings to life the sobering accounts of trials and the uplifting tales of triumph. The annual gathering is always a moving celebration of the resilience of the human spirit and the promise of continued research.

The racing community is encouraged to share in this special ceremony. Tickets are now on sale at www.racingagainstcancer.com or by calling (860) 608-1885.
