Strong Party List For ‘Bowl in ‘08

Waterford, CT -- In addition to the most competitive regular divisions in New England, Waterford Speedbowl will welcome the area’s quickest racecars as well in 2008.

The International Super Modified Association (ISMA), the Northeastern Midget Association (NEMA) and the True Value Modified Series (TVMS) head up the list of “visitors” that also includes the American Canadian Tour (ACT) and the Three Quarter Midgets.

Action begins April 12-13 with the 11th annual Modified Nationals, the SK-150 spearheading a nine-division agenda. The Speedbowl’s NASCAR Whelen All American Series divisions – the Late Models, Sportsman and Mini Stocks – will be joined by the Midgets, Legends, AllStar Race Trucks, Pro4 Modifieds and Allison Legacy Cars.

Competition – the Speedbowl’s regular divisions produced 37 different winners in ’07– and speed will be prevalent at the Speedbowl in ’08.

The Nationals will be the first of four visits for NEMA. Generally acknowledged as one of the premier Midget tracks in the east, the NEMA boys and girls circle the ‘Bowl in the very low 13 seconds bracket. NEMA and the Speedbowl go back over 50 years meaning there are no secrets left. Everybody comes to the ‘Bowl prepared to run all out. Other NEMA visits to the Speedbowl: May 10, Aug. 2 (Nostalgia Weekend) and “The Finale.”

ISMA loves making history and the first 11 seconds lap will again be the objective when the winged wonders show up on May 24. They are only a few ticks away. The Supers have proven to be truly amazing in their two previous visits, the powerful monsters actually shaking the ground.

Open cockpit fans get an added bonus this season. The Three Quarter Midget will visit on Sept.13. They’ve already informed management they plan to be making some history as well.

In three previous visits, the “True Values” have never disappointed Speedbowl fans. The heats are among the best racing in New England. They’ll be on hand three times in ’08 – May 3, June 21 and Aug. 16. The resident SK drivers love taking on the TVMS “invaders.” A number of have successful and that is expected to continue.

The ‘Bowl’s Late Model contingent - many are “ACT Legal,” – get their shot when the “boys from the north” come in on June 7. It marks a return to the ‘Bowl for one of the most successful “full fendered” tours in the east.

The Pro4s are due on May 31 and the Trucks return on July 19. Both will be back for the season-ending Finale along with the Allison Legacy cars and the complete Wild n’ Wacky Wednesday roster.

New England Antique Racers (NEAR) will visit twice – April 19 and on Aug. 2-3 (Nostalgia Weekend).

The “regulars” will be showcased at the July 5 Midseason Championships – 100 lappers for the SK and Late Models and 50 lappers for the Sportsman and Mini Stocks.
