Waterford, CT — The Speedbowl was forced to cancel its popular Wild N’ Wacky Wednesday program this week due to a power outage that left the track with no electricity. The incident stemmed from a traffic accident on RT.85, Hartford Road occurring a short distance from the track.
Action continues Saturday with a full program of NASCAR Whelen All American Series action. Also on the slate are the Legends and Pro-4 Modifieds.

Naples, ME — The twenty eight races that make up the two Pro All Stars Series (PASS) super late model schedules all carry a healthy purse for the East’s fastest full fendered race cars, but four dates stand out with added cash incentives to take that checkered flag first.
The first big one will go green on Saturday July 19th at Orange County Speedway. The beautiful Rougemont North Carolina track that bills itself as America’s fastest 3/8th mile will host the Southern Sizzler 200 and there’s a cool ten grand on the line for the winner. Expect a huge field for this race as The Sizzler is also round two of the four race PASS National Championship Series. The series kicked off on March 22nd at Hickory (NC) Motor Speedway with the 3rd annual Easter Bunny 150, where Corey Williams started his season off right with a victory.

Daytona Beach, FL — NASCAR announced today that the unofficial results of Friday’s NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race at Stafford (Conn.) Speedway have been revised due to rules violations discovered during post-race inspection of the fifth-place car - the No. 19 driven by Jimmy Blewett.
The No. 19 car was found to be in violation of Sections 12-4-A (actions detrimental to stock car racing); and 20D-5.10.1B(2) (Altered carburetor booster passages) of the 2008 NASCAR rule book. The violations were discovered during post race inspection on May 23.

Stafford Springs, CT — Following post race technical inspection from the 18th Annual TSI Harley-Davidson 150 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series feature events at Stafford Motor Speedway, the following change has been made to the official SK Modified® order of finish.
Unofficial SK Modified® third place finisher Jeff Malave was penalized 5 positions from his original finishing position. Malave’s car was found to have a tire rule infraction, and he was penalized five positions from his original position and one tire for his next event attended.

Reino Tulonen To Attend Norwood Arena Reunion June 1
Fitchburg, MA — Wherever Reino Tulonen raced his sleek looking Cutdown racecar, a forerunner of the current Super-Modifieds, track announcers dubbed him “The Flying Finn From Fitchburg”. Tulonen started his racing career in 1946 and continued to race his radical looking machines at such venues as Westboro, Seekonk, Norwood, Manchester, NH, Peabody, Oxford, ME, The Pines, Hudson, NH and any other oval within reasonable driving distance of his hometown. He won many races and track championships at those tracks. He quit driving and building racecars in 1972. Tulonen is expected to be on hand for this Sunday’s, June 14, 4TH Annual Norwood Arena Reunion at the Bezema Buick, Pontiac, GMC on Rt. 1, the Auto Mile in Norwood. The dealership is just a mile north of the original site of Norwood Arena.
Reino will join such notable drivers as Bill Slater, Leo Cleary, Ernie Gahan and Bugs Stevens among several others. For racing nostalgia buffs this once a year get together will jog their memories as to how that era was the best racing ever in New England. At the time the fans, drivers and officials didn’t realize it until they take a critical look back in time. Also expected are drivers from the support classes such as Jerry Capazzoli who was a multiple Mini Stock Champion at the Norwood oval.
