A Different Earnhardt Looks to Take the Checkers

He has the look, he has the name, and now is the chance for Jeffrey Earnhardt to do something his father, famous uncle, and legendary grandfather have never done – win at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Earnhardt comes from racing stock, there is no question about that.  His father is former NASCAR driver Kerry Earnhardt.  His uncle Dale, Jr., is the most popular driver in NASCAR.  And his late grandfather, Dale Earnhardt, was one of the greatest drivers the sport has ever seen.

Jeffrey has quickly moved up the racing ranks, signing a development deal with General Motors in 2006.  In 2007, Earnhardt drove the No. 1 Chevrolet for Andy Santerre Racing in the NASCAR Camping World Series East.  He finished fifth in the point standings with one win, five top-10 and four top-five finishes.  He was also voted the series’ most popular driver.

Earnhardt is now in his second year in the NASCAR Camping World East Series, driving the No. 8 Dale Earnhardt Inc., Monte Carlo.  Jeffrey is currently sitting in fifth-place after four races with three top-10 and two top-five finishes.

If Jeffrey takes the checkers on Friday afternoon, it will be the first time that anyone named Earnhardt has found victory lane at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
