Milestones Possible at Lee USA

Several milestones are possible when the Northeastern Midget Association visits Lee USA Speedway Friday night. It will be the 25th Lee USA result going back to Walter Gale’s win on June 12, 1966.

Tim Bertrand and Randy Cabral take 22-point leads over Gene Angelillo and Joey Payne Jr. in the respective driver and owner standings. Greg Stoehr and Erica Santos are tied for third in the driver standings with rookie William Wall fifth.

Elephant Race Removed from LENOX Industrial Tools 301 Pre-Race Show Line-up

Due to last-minute permit issues, the elephant race scheduled as part of the pre-race activities Sunday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway has been cancelled.

“We didn’t know until late yesterday that there were pachyderm permits required to move an elephant across state lines, and apparently, there are some health certifications required as well,” said Jerry Gappens, executive vice president and general manager of the speedway. “We’re disappointed, but we simply don’t have the time to comply properly with all the federal procedures.

Rain Washes Out NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Qualifying

Chuck Hossfeld Will Start on the Pole Saturday

Loudon, NH — Unfavorable weather conditions at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Thursday washed out time trials for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. Current points leader Chuck Hossfeld will now start on the pole for Saturday’s New England 100.

With the rainout lineup, the field for the New England 100 was set according to the NASCAR rule book. Hossfeld, who has finished no worse than fourth in each of the season’s first four races, will lead the field of 38 cars down the front stretch at the “Magic Mile” on Saturday. Hossfeld will be joined in the front row by Ted Christopher, whose nine wins at New Hampshire are a track record.

Johnny Benson, Jr. to Drive ISMA Supermodified in CARQUEST Extreme Tuesday

Stafford Springs, CT — Stafford Motor Speedway has announced that NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series points leader Johnny Benson, Jr. will be part of the ISMA Supermodified field for the Tuesday, July 8th CARQUEST Extreme Tuesday program. Benson is the most recent winner on the Craftsman Truck Series, winning at the Milwaukee Mile, and he currently leads Todd Bodine by 50 points in the Craftsman Truck Series points standings. Benson’s visit to Stafford will be his first visit behind the wheel at the Connecticut half-mile.

“I’ve heard lots of good things about Stafford, but I’ve never seen it before,” said Benson. “That definitely should make it more exciting!”

Bentley Warren Returns to Stafford for 5th Annual CARQUEST Extreme Tues. on July 8th

Stafford Springs, CT — The stars and cars of the ISMA Supermodified division return to Stafford Motor Speedway on Tuesday, July 8th for the 5th Annual CARQUEST Extreme Tuesday event. Joining the ISMA Supermodified field will be open-wheel legend Bentley Warren, who has four career ISMA Supermodified championships, and ranks third on the all-time ISMA Supermodified winners list with 41 career victories.

“I’m absolutely looking forward to coming back to Stafford to race,” said Warren. “Stafford is a great track, I love racing there, and hopefully I can get another win at Stafford.”
