 Joey Pole Set for NASCAR Camping World Series Debut SaturdayHudson, NH — 19 year old ACT Late Model standout Joey “Pole” Polewarczyk will be making his NASCAR Camping World East debut at Thompson International Speedway on July 12, 2008.

Pole; as he is referred to will be wheeling the #5 Motion Racing Chevrolet of Barney McRae. Pole and McRae tested early last week at Thompson and Joey flashed why he is considered a driver to watch out for. Turning times of 20.6, 20.3 and 19.8 on the big 5/8 mile of Thompson really proved to McRae that Joey has all the tools to put on an impressive show this weekend.

Arute, Palmer Among Wild N’ Wacky Wed. Winners

 Arute, Palmer Among Wild N Wacky Wed. WinnersWaterford, CT — Jason Palmer won the 20-lap Legends feature on Wild N’ Wacky Wednesday.
Other feature winners were John Yagmin (Super-X Car), Curt D’Addario (X-Car), Wayne Arute (X-Modified), and Kathy Civardi (WOW Super-X).

Jason Palmer won the ultra-competitive 20-lap Legends feature. Shaun Buffington (in a car that was completely rebuilt after being totaled last week), Max Zachem, and Jay Palmer traded the lead for several laps before Palmer finally gained a slim advantage in the closing circuits. Buffington claimed a close second, followed by Zachem, George Whitney, and Carl Blandina.

The “Chase” Begins in New Hampshire

Loudon, NH — Exciting racing is the theme of the SYLVANIA 300 weekend, and it will culminate on Sunday afternoon as the top-12 drivers in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series fight to claim their place in history when the “Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup” starts at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

The weekend will kick off on Thursday, September 11, 2008, with qualifying for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour New Hampshire 100, and the NASCAR Camping World East Series Heluva Good!® Fall 125.

Kirk Alexander Files First Entry for Vivieros Insurance Modified Madness at Seekonk

 Kirk Alexander Files First Entry for Vivieros Insurance Modified Madness at SeekonkSeekonk, MA — Swanzey NH native and three time True Value Modified Racing Series Champion Kirk Alexander filed the first entry for the fourth annual Vivieros Insurance Modified Madness. After missing last years event due to the weather forcing the rescheduling of the event, and a pre planned hunting trip, Alexander wasn’t going to chance missing this years’ race. The open competition modified event, which pays $10,000 to win, is quickly becoming one of the most anticipated modified races in the region. Having drawn cars from all 3 major modified touring series over the past 3 seasons, and some of the local talents from Ct, shows the excitement that has built from the competitors.

Reigning NASCAR Whelen Modified Series Champion Donny Lia was the inaugural winner of this event in 2005; when he slipped by Ted Christopher on the last lap for the biggest win of his career to that point. Alexander picked up the big dollar payday the following win, after tangling with TC late in the race. 6 time Seekonk Champ Vinny Annarummo won this event last year, just holding off a hard charging Chris Pasteryak.

Matt Kobyluck to Make 150th Series Start at Thompson

Experience Counts -Kobyluck, MacDonald hitting their stride at the perfect time

The NASCAR Camping World Series East has evolved into a development series for talented young drivers. But it’s still a great place for experienced veterans.

In a series that produced a 17-year-old champion last year and an 18-year-old point leader this season, Matt Kobyluck, 38, and Eddie MacDonald, 28, are more than holding their own.

Kobyluck (No. 40 Mohegan Sun Resort Chevrolet), will make his 150th career start Saturday at Thompson (Conn.) International Speedway. MacDonald (No. 71 Grimm Construction C h e v r olet), makes start number 102. The duo enter Satur d a y ‘ s Pepsi Full F e n d e r Frenzy 100 h a v i n g won the previous two races.

Whelen Modified Tour Returns to Western New York

For the first time since 1994, and for just the fifth time overall, the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will bring its show to Spencer Speedway for the Mason Farms 100 on Saturday, July 12 in Williamson, N.Y.

In its inaugural year of 1985, the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour visited Spencer, a half-mile flat asphalt oval, for the first time. The western New York venue also held Modified races in 1986, 1987 and 1994.

Bobby Santos III Continues Stafford Run

Stafford Springs, CT — Coming from the 10th starting position, Bobby Santos III had the lead by lap 10 and went on to a convincing victory in the caution-free 30-lap Northeastern Midget Association feature at Stafford Motor Speedway’s Carquest Xtreme Tuesday.

The second leader, Santos, in the family #98, took the inside route past Jeremy Frankoski (Seamon #63) heading into turn one and then held off Randy Cabral to post his second win of the season. He has won his last three Midget starts on the historic half mile. It was the fourth straight Stafford win for the Santos family, sister Erica winning last year.
