Victor Johnson Wins First ALNRS Race at Monadnock

Newburgh, NY — In only his second start in the ALNRS Victor Johnson of Troy, NH grabs his first win Saturday night at Monadnock Speedway.  Second place went to series points leader James Logan and rounding out the top three was aDP Rivet Rookie of the Year contender Kyle Poodiack of Bennington, NH.

After being rained out Friday night at Twin State Speedway the ALNRS showed up to race Saturday afternoon at the fastest quarter mile in the east.  A heavy hail and thunderstorm moved through the area as teams began to arrive and  it appeared as Mother Nature would ruin another night of racing.  The storm passed quickly and the sun came out and dried the track.

Having been off for several weeks the teams were eager to get back to business. The first heat race began with the  aDP Rivet Rookie of the Year contenders Kyle Poodiack and William Schneider on the front row. After a caution free 10 lap heat race it was Dylan Smith at the line followed by Poodiack, Shannon Smith and rounding out the top five were the Schneider brothers David and William.

Heat Race two would see points leader James Logan on the pole with Shane D’Agostino to his outside. On lap five rookie driver Nathan Johnson, who was appearing in his first ALNRS race would bring out a quick caution. At the line it was Logan followed by Paul Tuthill and Tommy Barrett in third. Nathan would recover to comeback and finish 4th followed by Mellissa Fifield.

For the feature Logan would be on the outside with Dylan Smith who trails Logan by  mere seven points on the pole. The first caution would wave on lap ten for a single car spin. Laps eleven through twenty would be the trouble laps for the night as three quick cautions would wave. On lap twenty three the 79 of Shane D’Agostino would bring out the final caution after failing to comply with the black flag for debris hanging from his car after being involved in an earlier caution. Shane would later be penalized one lap for intentionally bringing out the caution.  At the line it would be Victor Johnson taking the checkers in only his second ALNRS race followed by Logan and Paul Tuthill.  Tuthill would later be disqualified during post race inspection for not being able to complete the post race teardown of his race car.

The series will be back in action this weekend as they returned to Adirondack Int. Speedway as part of their weekly racing.
