Youngster Ryan Morgan Takes Another Legends Win

Waterford, CT — Ryan Morgan took the checkers in the 20-lap Legends feature race at the Waterford Speedbowl on Wild N’ Wacky Wednesday.

Other feature winners were Jon Porter (Super-X Car), Curt D’Addario (X-Car), Richard “Bubby” Brouwer (X-Modified), and Kathy Civardi (WOW Super-X Car).

Young Ryan Morgan absolutely dominated 20-lap Legends feature action, capturing his third of the season. The Ledyard High School student had the field fully-covered by the early laps, and went on to triumph over perennial front-runners Jason Palmer and Max Zachem by a wide-margin. Wrapping-up the top-5 was Shaun Buffington and Dennis Pantini.

Brian Norman led the 20-lap Super-X car feature until Jon Porter slipped-by on lap-8. Advancing to a comfortable lead, Porter continued his dominance of the event while a 3-way battle raged behind him between Steve Barrett, Brian Norman and Michael Maskell, Taking the win in the caution-free event was Porter, followed by Barrett, Norman, and Greg Moran Jr. With his eighth-place finish, George Correia unofficially clinched the 2008 Super-X championship.

In 20-lap X-Car action it was Curt D`Addario taking the win. The first circuit saw a multi-car accident that involved several front-runners including Brad Voglesong. After a lengthy cleanup, it was Wayne Shifflett briefly leading until overtaken by a charging by D`Addario. In the closing circuits, Patrick Williams applied pressure to the leader, a late caution adding to the drama. In a 2-lap duel for the checkers D’Addario prevailed by a car-length for the victory, his fifth of the season.

The 15-lap X-Modified feature saw Brian DiMartino lead the charge until overtaken by Brian Rondeau. An early wreck on the front chute slowed the event, prompting the first of multiples caution periods. Advancing from his mid-pack starting spot, Richard “Bubby” Brouwer bolted into the lead, driving to victory by a comfortable margin. Second-place Kevin Shea and David Flammia Jr. in third, slammed the wall with grinding-force destroying both machines shortly after crossing the line. Completing the top-5 was Richard Durkee IV, and Bill Gerstch Jr.

Kathy Civardi parlayed her pole-position starting place into a victory, leading every circuit of the WOW Super-X Car 10-lap feature to capture the win over Tracy Moran, Kelly McDougall, Kim Bickford, and Melissa Correia.

Driving the “getaway car”, John Bowes scored the Wild N’ Wacky “Cops N’ Robbers” race. It was the first time a “Robber” has ever won the light-hearted and crowd-pleasing event.

Wild N’ Wacky Wednesday continues to draw some of the largest fields in New England.

This Saturday evening, it’s the “Double Down Shootout” starring the SK Modifieds, Late Models, Sportsman, and Mini Stocks of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series.
