NASCAR Legend Bobby Allison to be Honored at Stafford Speedway’s CARQUEST Fall Final Weekend

Stafford Springs, CT — As part of a season-long celebration of 60 years of Modified champions, NASCAR legend Bobby Allison will be honored prior to the running of the CARQUEST Fall Final 150 on  September 28th at Stafford Motor Speedway.  Allison made his mark in racing driving on the Sprint Cup Series, but he began his racing career at the Modified level and won several championships there before moving up to Sprint Cup Series competition.

Allison won the 1962 and 1963 Modified Special Division championships and was the National Modified champion in 1964.  From there, he moved into what was then known as Grand National Racing.  Allison scored his first career victory at Oxford Plains Speedway on July 12, 1966.  Allison would go on to win a grand total of  84 Sprint Cup Series races, tying him with Darrell Waltrip for third place on the all-time Sprint Cup Series Winners list.

Allison won the 1983 Sprint Cup title and was five-times a runner-up in the Sprint Cup Series points standings.  Allison is a three-time Daytona 500 winner (1978, 1982, 1988) and a 6-time Sprint Cup Series Most Popular Driver.  Allison has over 600 short track feature victories to his credit, an IROC championship, and he is a two-time Driver of the Year Award recipient.  Allison was inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame in 1993.
