American-Canadian Tour Late Model stock car racing champion Brian Hoar will return to the driver’s seat at Thunder Road’s 45th Annual Chittenden Bank Milk Bowl on Sat./Sun., Sept. 27/28. Hoar, 36, has been idle since the end of the 2007 season, a year in which the Williston, VT racer finished sixth in his first full season back on the ACT Late Model Tour following his fifth series championship in 2000. He previously raced in the series now known as NASCAR Camping World East.
“I’m headed to a track in New Hampshire to test the car and knock the rust off the driver,” said Hoar. “We’ll be in great shape on Milk Bowl weekend. It’s been a long time since I’ve kissed a cow, and I’d love to do it again,” he said, referencing to the event’s long-standing tradition of the winning driver smooching a Vermont dairy cow in victory lane. Hoar won the Chittenden Bank Milk Bowl in 1998 and 1999, one of only two drivers in history to win in successive years. Burnett Scrap Metals and Goss Dodge will underwrite Hoar’s return.

Sometimes it’s really fun to help out a friend, especially when that friend asks you to practice a supermodified race car for you. The opportunity came when Bobby Santos III had a conflicting modified race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on the same day he was slotted to drive the number 32 Soule Racing Supermodified at Star Speedway in New Hampshire on Saturday. Dan Soule and the team needed someone to practice the car before qualifying. Santos is the team’s regular driver, and he and Jeremy are close friends. Santos asked Jeremy to help him out, while Jeremy was watching Santos race in the NASCAR Modifieds at NHMS. Star Speedway is just up the road from NHMS, and Jeremy grabbed his suit and helmet, and headed to Star.
“It was a privilege to practice the car for Dan Soule and Bobby Santos III. Soule Racing has a lot of history in Supermodifieds and their equipment is always top notch! They are also a hard working and fun team to be around. I can’t thank Danny and Bobby enough for giving me the opportunity.” Stated Jeremy.

Claremont, NH — For years as a race driver, legendary Donnie “The Golden Jet” Miller had a strong feeling, something that always gnawed at him. Something he always wished he could change. He tried but often fell on deaf ears. “It always bothered me that the guys putting on the show had to pay to put on the show. We were the only sport that did that, it’s still that way, and if I had a shot at it, I’d do it.” said the Claremont multi-champion.
Miller will have his way on Sunday, Sept 28, the day the True Value Modified Racing Series makes it’s first ever appearance at the Twin State Speedway, a race track that is near and dear to the Miller family. The event will be run in honor of Ricky Miller, who passed away in 2004, an established racer, a former Claremont, Riverside Park, and NASCAR modified standout.

Daytona Beach, FL — As part of the season-long celebration of 60 Years of Modified Champions, 1956 NASCAR Modified titlist Red Farmer will be honored at the Made In American Whelen 300 on Saturday, Sept. 20 at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway.
Farmer, a member of the famed “Alabama Gang,” captured the 1956 NASCAR Modified championship by a 118-point margin against Sam DiRusso.
“There were three of us, along with Fred Schweikert, close enough to win the championship, and the last race we ran was in Concord, North Carolina,” Farmer said. “In fact, I think Ralph Earnhardt was in that race in a Sportsman car, and we both got our championships in that last race.”
