Woody Pitkat Pulling Triple Duty at Stafford Speedway’s 36th Annual Carquest Fall Final Weekend

Stafford Springs, CT — Stafford’s own Woody Pitkat will make his first appearance in a Camping World East Series car at Stafford when the division comes to the track’s 36th Annual CARQUEST Fall Final Weekend, which is scheduled for October 11th and 12th. Pitkat will be piloting a Mike Olsen owned Chevrolet with sponsorship from The Davidson Company and ECI / Cliff Nelson Motorsports. In addition to his Camping World East Series ride, Pitkat will also be driving in the SK Modified® and Late Model feature events, as well as performing his duties as a jackman for Doug Coby, who will be driving the #28 Ramar-Hall Whelen Modified Tour entry for car owner Don King.

Pitkat ran the car at last year’s season ending Toyota All-Star Showdown at Irwindale Speedway in California. Pitkat qualified the car 38th and finished 26th, and he recently tested the car at Stafford.

“I ran Mike’s car last year at Irwindale, and he mentioned something about possibly putting something together for Stafford this year in the car,” said Pitkat. “Mike had the car at Stafford a couple weeks ago and he called me up and asked me if I could come down and put some laps on the car. The test went pretty well, and Mike said if he made it through New Hampshire that he would be interested in putting me in the car. I had to come up with some sponsorship money and The Davidson Company and Cliff Nelson helped me out with money to run the car. They’re both great sponsors to have helping me out and I’m looking forward to running the car.”
Pitkat has a wealth of experience at Stafford, which was a factor into him getting the ride for Fall Final. Since the beginning of the 2006 season, Pitkat has won a total of 14 SK Modified® and 9 Late Model feature events as well as the 2006 Late Model track championship. It is Pitkat’s experience at the track that has the team looking for big things come CARQUEST Fall Final Weekend.

“Mike thinks we can possibly win the race,” said Pitkat. “I told him he might be exaggerating a little, and that he’d probably be a better fit for the car since he’s run so well here before and has thousands of laps in the car. Mike told me that I have thousands of laps around Stafford, so he feels pretty good with me in the car. The car is pretty similar to the Late Model, it is a little heavier and has more horsepower, but it is a little harder to slow down. If I can manage that, I think we can have a pretty good run, I’m excited about it.”

Pitkat’s busy weekend gets started with practice for his SK Modified® and Late Model cars on Friday, October 10th. Practice runs from 2pm to 6:30pm and the grandstand gates will be open free of charge to the public for the practice session.

Saturday has practice sessions for the Camping World East Series and Whelen Modified Tour beginning at 10:00am. Time Trials get started at 2:00pm with heat and consolation events for Stafford’s five weekly divisions to follow. Closing out the Saturday on-track activities will be feature events for Stafford’s SK Light Modified, Limited Late Model, and DARE Stock divisions, including the Paradiso-Muska DARE Stock Shoot-Out. Grandstand gates for Saturday open at 10:00am.

The 36th Annual CARQUEST Fall Final Weekend concludes on Sunday with feature events for the Camping World East Series, the Whelen Modified Tour, and Stafford’s SK Modified® and Late Model divisions. Spectator gates open at 9:30am with the famous CARQUEST Belts and Hose Pit Party taking place from 10:00am to 11:00am. The Camping World East Series takes to the track for their feature at 12 noon, followed by the SK Modified® feature, the Whelen Modified Tour feature, and the Late Model feature will be the last on-track action of the weekend.
