Stafford Springs, CT — Stafford Motor Speedway kicked of its 36th Annual CARQUEST Fall Final Weekend on Saturday, October 11th with qualifying for the Camping World East Series and the Whelen Modified Tour, as well as hosting qualifying for its NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions, and feature events for the SK Lights, Limited Late Models, and DARE Stocks.
In Camping World East Series Coors Light Pole qualifying, it was Brian Ickler setting the fast time with a new track record of 19.376 seconds. It was a good day in qualifying for Stafford SK Modified regulars Ted Christopher and Woody Pitakt, who time trialed 4th and 5th respectively. Matt Kobyluck, the 2008 Camping World East Series champion, will start 6th.
In Whelen Modified Tour Coors Light Pole qualifying, it was Mike Stefanik setting the fast time of� 18.158 seconds.� After the Coors LIght Pole redraw, Stefanik redrew the top starting position and he will be joined on the front row by championship leader Ted Christopher, who time trialed 7th fastest.
Christopher’s championship rival, Matt Hirschman, will start tomorrow’s 150-lap event from the 13th position.

Stafford Springs, CT –Brian Ickler established a track record in Coors Light Pole Award qualifying at Stafford Motor Speedway Saturday afternoon.
Ickler (No. 15 Ickler Motorsports Chevrolet) lapped the .500-mile oval in 19.376 seconds, for an average speed of 92.898 mph, in qualifiying for Sunday’s CARQUEST Fall Final 150. It was the second pole award of the season for the 23-year-old from San Diego, Calif.
Two-time series champion Mike Olsen (No. 16 Fadden Racing Inc. Chevrolet) was the second fastest at 19.615 (92.659). Olsen is making his third start of the season.

Jeff Zuidema was among the drivers gathered for practice at Seekonk Speedway on Friday. The accomplished North Brookfield, MA driver is a former Outlaw Pro champion at Monadnock Speedway. This season he captured the Late Model championship at Thompson Speedway.
A Monadnock regular, Zuidema brought his #42 car to the Seekonk Speedway for its annual visit to the Action Track of the East. Seekonk fans may see Zuidema more often in 2009, depending on how often the Pro Stocks are scheduled at the Winchester, NH oval known as ”Mad Dog”.
If the rumors of Modifieds and Pro Stocks running alternating weeks next season come to fruition at Monadnock, Zuidema said Seekonk is an option for next season and his team. Zuidema hasn’t run a full year at Seekonk since 1990.

Veteran Earns First Coors Light Pole Of 2008
Stafford Springs, CT — Mike Stefanik tied the all-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour record for career Coors Light Pole Awards Saturday afternoon as he turned in the fast time in qualifying for the CARQUEST Fall Final at Stafford Motor Speedway.
Stefanik (No. 16 Diversified Metals/Ace Moldings Pontiac) recorded the fastest lap in time trials at 18.158 seconds (99.130 mph). It was the first pole for Stefanik since 2006 at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway. In the process he tied Tony Hirschman for the series’ all-time lead with 41 career poles, and extended his own record for poles at Stafford to 15.
Eric Beers (No. 46 Reynold’s Auto Wrecking/Sunoco Chevrolet) was the second-fastest qualifier at 18.168 seconds (99.075 mph) and will start in the third row following the redraw. Rob Summers (No. 1 Frasco Fuel/Hook & Ladder Chevrolet) was third quick at 18.316 seconds (98.275 mph).
