Claremont, NH — The Northeastern Midget Association brings its 2008 campaign to a close at this weekend’s rescheduled Open Wheel Sunday at Twin State Speedway in Claremont, NH. Although both NEMA and Twin State are among New England’s oldest racing institutions, the Midgets have run only two features at the semi-banked third mile.
Twin State is a major challenge. Kyle Carpenter was the last winner, besting Joey Payne Jr. and Adam Cantor in 2005. Dave Humphrey (1973) is the only other NEMA Twin State winner.

If you attended Stafford Speedway during the 60’s & 70’s you certainly know who Seymour the Clown is. Primarily known as the Stafford Speedway Clown, Seymour could also be found at tracks from Daytona to New Jersey and New York entertaining the crowd with his antics and interaction with the drivers.
On Friday October 17th Butch underwent surgery for Colon Cancer at New Britain General Hospital and was released yesterday October 22nd and will be recovering at home for the next few weeks. According to doctors the prognosis is very good as they believe all the cancer was removed.

Speedbowl Pioneer “Wild Bill” Scrivener
First making headlines in the Speedbowl’s popular Bombers (a support class that ran from 1958 – 66), the late “Wild Bill” Scrivener claimed the division’s 1965 championship in the famed Bonville Bros. #4 Coupe. Later advancing to the Modifieds, the pioneering Speedbowl chauffer had scored a combined career total of over thirty feature victories before retiring at the close of the 1976 campaign. “Wild Bills” last main event triumph came on Easter Sunday of 1974 in the Dodge-powered Rambler American-bodied car pictured above. Have you noticed the world is becoming more “Me First” It seems everywhere you go someone is trying to get ahead of you. What is it that makes us think we deserve to be first? Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Racing is built on being first, that’s the whole object. Finishing first on the race track is what we strive for, but being first is different. You can earn your way to the front by racing, but some people think they deserve to be in front. We have to be careful when we think we deserve more than others, when we think more of ourselves that we ought to.
