Seekonk Speedway Hosts First Practice Session of 2009

Seekonk, MA — For the first time during the 2009 season, teams took the opportunity to practice at the Seekonk Speedway.  Midgets, Modifieds, Pure Stocks, Pro Stocks and Street Stocks were among the different cars that particpated.

The historic 1/3-mile oval on Rt. 6 has been home to auto racing since the 1946 season.  One improvement from 2008 that fans will notice is the addition of new bleachers that have been installed during the offseason.  The concrete stands that surround the  facility have given the track its nickname, the “Cement Palace”.   Several years ago wooden bleachers were installed.  The latest addition ensures that fans will have a more comfortable experience this season.
