Impressive “Guest List” For Bertrand Team

Brockton, MA — Jeff Horn, a New England open-cockpit mainstay, will be the first of several high profile names to drive a Bertrand midget in 2009 Northeastern Midget Association competition. Horn, who has 19 career NEMA wins, will drive the Esslinger-powered #39 Drinan car at the club’s season opener Saturday night May 23 at Monadnock Speedway.

Tim Bertrand and Randy Cabral, in the #47, will begin defense of the owner and driver championships at Monandock. It is the first of 17 races on the ’09 schedule.

According to Bertrand, current Sprint Cup competitor and one-time USAC open-cockpit star Ryan Newman will drive the #39 at Lee USA Speedway on Friday night, June 26. Current USAC driver Cole Carter, son of the legendary open wheel chauffeur Pancho Carter, will drive at Waterford Speedbowl on July 25 and at Seekonk’s “Boston Louie” on Aug. 8 in a new car that is currently being constructed.

5/16 Home Run Derby Contest at Waterford Speedbowl

Details of the 4th annual Little League Night featuring the http://www.sids-vault.comHome Run Derby:

  • 10 teams (1 driver – 1 Little Leaguer)
  • Any Little Leaguer hoping to participate should obtain a ticket prior to the completion of qualifying. After qualifying, they should gather at the flagstand, where the Speedbowl Slugging drivers will randomly pick corresponding tickets from a hat.

Weekly NASCAR Racing Starts Thursday at Thompson

Thompson, CT — Thursday Night Thompson Thunder will rumble once again beginning Thursday, May 21st at the historic Thompson International Speedway. The weekly Thursday Night Thompson Thunder (TNTT) series has become hugely popular with area race fans due to the exciting six-divisions of competition and the fast pace with which the race program is run. Racers and race fans have been waiting for the weekly NASCAR competition to begin at Thompson ever since the speedway’s Icebreaker event was run in April.

Thompson’s TNTT series plays host to some of NASCAR’s best and brightest racing talent each week. The racing action is superb in each of the NASCAR Whelen All American Series divisions. The Sunoco Modifieds top the list with a line up of drivers second to none. NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion, Ted Christopher, will join the weekly program and will compete against outstanding drivers like Kerry Malone, Keith Rocco, Todd Ceravolo, Woody Pitkat, Bert Marvin, Jimmy Blewett, Tom Cravenho, Jr., and many more. On any give night, as many as a dozen drivers in this division are potential winners.
