NASCAR New England Returns to NESN for 10-Week Run in 2009

Stafford Springs, CT — NASCAR New England, Stafford Motor Speedway’s award winning television program, will return to the New England Sports Network (NESN) for the 2009 season with a 10-episode run beginning on Saturday, June 27. The show will air from 5pm-6pm each Saturday from June 27 through August 29. This year marks the fourth consecutive year that NASCAR New England will air on the most watched sports network in New England and the ninth consecutive season that Stafford Motor Speedway has produced the show.

The 2009 edition of NASCAR New England will once again showcase Stafford’s SK Modified┬« and Late Model divisions with highlight coverage of Stafford’s SK Light, Limited Late Model, and DARE Stock divisions. NASCAR New England will also continue to bring you stories showcasing the weekly racers behind the scenes.

“The time slot we have for NASCAR New England leads into NESN’s Red Sox coverage, which is an ideal time slot for us to occupy,” said Mark Arute, SMS COO/GM. “With the Red Sox ownership group being involved with Roush Racing, there is a connection between Red Sox fans and NASCAR, which will help build a larger audience for NASCAR New England and give team and track sponsors a greater level of exposure.”

The show’s success on NESN has produced a unique return for the track’s competitors. Team sponsors, as well as track advertising partners have received liberal on air references and increased visibility as well as exposure to the core New England market as well as a national audience.

“We began our TV project during the 2001 racing season with the goal to provide our competitors a unique tool that they could use to acquire individual team sponsorships,” said Mark Arute, SMS COO/GM. “Since we began the show, it has grown by leaps and bounds. We began on public access and as we enter our ninth season of television coverage, we are on the largest sports network in New England for the fourth consecutive season. With NESN being available on satellite, we have evolved from local public access reach in Connecticut to a regional network that has the ability to reach every home in the United States.”

Stafford’s NESN coverage is the only weekly television coverage of NASCAR’s Whelen All American Series in New England, offering Stafford teams and their supporters a unique marketing opportunity. ABC/ESPN and Versus reporter Jack Arute will return as the show’s host with Matt Buckler lending his voice to the play-by-play duties and former Whelen Modified Tour champion Rick Fuller serving as the race analyst. Joe Coss will provide coverage from pit road and CARQUEST Victory Lane, and Tony Sutton will supply Track Facts.

NASCAR New England will once again be produced by SMS Images & Teleproductions in association with NESN. For more information, or to find out about commercial opportunities for the 2009 edition of NASCAR New England, please contact the Stafford Motor Speedway track office at 860-684-2783 or at
