Waterford, CT — Jason Palmer extended his Speedbowl record win streak to 10 events in a dandy of a Legends Car race, while first time winners Ken Dowling III and Pete Zaikarite checkered entertaining Super X and X-Car races, respectively. The X-Modified winner was David Flammia and Andy Carpenter won the Bandolero race.
Heading into the 20-lap Legends Car event, the mission for the field was dethroning Jason Palmer’s nine race win streak in the division. Veterans Ed Field and Carl Blandina paced the field in the early laps with a host of young guns behind. Blandina tested the outside lane on Field, and made the maneuver stick to take the lead seven laps in. George Whitney was making moves high and low with Palmer shadowing behind as the pair began to pick their way through the top ten. The action was slowed on lap eight when Peter Portante and Allesandra Vitelli made contact and came to rest in turn three.
Seekonk, MA — On Saturday, June 20, the ARC Pro Stocks will compete in a 75 lap main event, with $2,000 up for grabs for the winner. In addition to the extra dollars, the winner will be a guaranteed starter in the first Cirelli Marketplace P.A.S.S. 150 on August 15.
Dave Darling is already a guaranteed starter in what is being billed as one of the biggest Pro Stock event at the birthplace of the Pro Stock.
It was in the mid-seventies when D Anthony Venditti came up with an affordable alternative to the high priced open wheel modifieds. In 1978, the Pro Stock division was born. That same year, D Anthony was voted as the 1978 Promoter of the Year at the annual workshops in Daytona. There is no doubt, the Pro Stocks were a big part of that. In 1980, the modifieds were replaced at the Cement Palace with the Pro Stocks, which were now the headlining division. Over the next decade, the Pro Stocks took a foothold in New England, and just about every track in New England was running a Pro Stock division.
