Lia Avoids Last Lap Crash to Win NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour New England 100

Loudon, NH —  Donny Lia avoided a last lap wreck to win the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour New England 100 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

“Cautions breed cautions,” said Lia, as another late-race crash set up a two lap sprint for the checkered flag.

Ted Christopher recovered from early engine trouble to lead the closing laps.

Christopher and Todd Szegedy made contact coming out of turn four and both ended up in the wall a few feet short of the finish line.

Lia, who was running close behind Szegedy and Christopher, dove to the bottom of the track to steal the win. Ronnie Silk bumped Eddie Flemke, Jr., as the two went low and barely cleared the wreckage, finishing third and second, respectively.

The win is Lia’s 12th career Whelen Modified Tour victory and his second win at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
