PRACTICE: Lia Posts Top Time

Christopher fast in 2 of 3 sessions
Bristol, TN — In the final practice for the UNOH Perfect Storm 150, somebody finally put up a faster lap than Ted Christopher. Donny Lia, the 2007 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion, had the fastest overall lap of the three practice sessions with his time of 14.924 seconds (128.571 mph).

Christopher, who had the fastest time in the first two sessions, was right behind in 14.959 seconds (128.271 mph). He was the only driver with a lap under 15 seconds in all three practices. The UNOH Perfect Storm 150 is Wednesday’s combination race between the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour and NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour.


After putting up the fast time under the lights Tuesday night at 14.951 (128.339), Christopher backed it up in Wednesday morning’s practice session. Christopher, the current NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour points leader, had a lap of 14.957 (128.288) seconds.

James Civali, slated to make his first start of the season, was third overall at 14.990 (128.005). Rowan Pennink was fourth at 15.002 (127.903), and Frank Fleming was the top NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified driver in fifth overall with a lap of 15.027 (127.690).

Andy Seuss, Burt Myers, L.W. Miller, George Brunnhoelzl III and Matt Hirschman rounded out the top 10 overall.

Qualifying is set for 3 p.m. and the UNOH Perfect Storm 150 is scheduled to go green at 6:09 p.m. SPEED’s coverage of the race will be on a 45-minute tape delay starting at 7 p.m.
