FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 18TH – 7:15 PM

Brockton, MA – Owner Tim Bertrand and driver Randy Cabral don’t want to talk about point. “This season were coming to the races with the intent of winning the feature,” says Bertrand.

Cabral says he would prefer it if points were not compiled until the send of the season.

Nonetheless, the respective defending champions hold the point leads as the Northeastern Midget Association returns to Lee USA Speedway Friday night. They will, in fact, be looking to make it two straight at the New Hampshire oval.

Plainville Stadium Reunion Scheduled For Saturday, October 10th

Berlin, CT — Silenced at the dawn of the 1980’s, Connecticut’s ¼-mile Plainville Stadium was a hotbed of racing in New England for over 3-decades, hosting some of the biggest names in the business. Drivers such as the legendary “Steady Eddie” Flemke, Denny Zimmerman, Reggie Ruggiero, Don Moon, Ron Wyckoff, Ray Miller, Dick Watson, and many-more all toured the tight, demanding oval during its long-history. In 2008, Plainville’s all-time winner Dave Alkas and 2-time champion George Lombardo took their place in the New England Auto Racing Hall of Fame along with previously inducted members Flemke, Zimmerman, Watson, and Miller.

Saturday, October 10th, the Nutmeg Kart Club in conjunction with the Berlin Lions Club World of Wheels present the “First Annual Plainville Stadium Reunion”. The event takes-place from 10am – 4pm at the Berlin Fair Grounds located 430 Beckley Road, East Berlin, Ct.

It’s expected that many former Stadium’ racers will attend. It’s the perfect opportunity to mingle, and perhaps get an autograph from the personalities that made the much-missed oval so-special.

Truex, MacDonald Take Points Race To NHMS

The first go-around at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Ryan Truex (No. 00 NAPA Toyota) came up just short and left a little disappointed.

“I’m pretty confident knowing I can run good at New Hampshire,” Truex said, “because we can go right into practice knowing what we need to do.”

Championships Come Down to the Wire at Thompson

Thompson, CT — With two weeks remaining in the regular racing season, the pressure is on as race teams try to secure one of the six division championships up for grabs at Thompson International Speedway. Drivers compete for both money and points at each event during the season. As the season draws to a close, the points, in many cases, become the driving force behind the competition.

The points competition in each of Thompson’s NASCAR Whelen All American Series divisions is red hot. Two events that award track points remain on the 2009 schedule. Going into those events, not a single driver has clinched one of the coveted titles.

The closest points race is in Thompson’s premier division, the Sunoco Modifieds. Going into this week’s competition, a mere two points separate drivers Keith Rocco and Woody Pitkat. Rocco will be determined to maintain his advantage over Pitkat after seeing his chances for a national championship fade when rain washed out his last two opportunities to overtake Ruckersville, VA driver Philip Morris for the national crown. Rocco claimed the 2007 Thompson title by only six points over Pitkat who was the 2006 titlist. However, it’s not just Rocco and Pitkat who could claim the top spot. Both Rowan Pennink and Ted Christopher have a shot at the top spot. Last year’s Sunoco Modified champion, Kerry Malone, is mathematically out of the running to repeat since he is 136 points behind the leader with just two points events remaining.

Mike Rowe Nips DJ Shaw for Third PASS 300 Win

PASS 400 Weekend News

Mike Rowe took advantage of leader Trevor Sanborn’s misfortune just 10 laps from the checker to assume the top spot and hold off DJ Shaw for his third PASS 300 victory at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway Sunday afternoon. It was a triumphant return to the series for the Maine racing legend who earned the immaculate Scarborough Maine Speed Plant’s Pro Series Championship title one week earlier.

After a meet and greet for the fans and driver introductions, Scott Chubbuck and home track hero Aaron Ricker led the thirty-two car field down to Chief Starter Rick Shepherd’s green flag and a mid pack melee involving TJ Brackett, Bub Bilodeau , Richie Dearborn and a host of others brought out an immediate yellow.A multi-time Beech Ridge champion, Bilodeau’s day was done just a half lap after it began. Chubbuck took over from the outside on the restart with Jay Fogleman in tow and Ricker and Kelly Moore battling for third. Ricker raced back under Fogleman for second and DJ Shaw was on the move.. He passed Moore on lap six, Fogleman on seven and set sail after the front two. Ricker was racey on the outside and took the lead back from Chubbuck on lap 14, while Kelly Moore worked his way by Shaw for third and went after Chubbuck for second. Second was his on lap 18, and the veteran was ready to challenge the kid for the top spot. The lead was Moore’s on lap 23, with Ricker, Chubbuck, DJ Shaw and Mike Rowe the top five on lap twenty five.
