Seekonk, MA — Mike Stefanik and Fred Astle Jr spilt the victories in the 17th Annual DAV Fall Classics twin 100’s Sunday in front of several thousand people. Ryan Vanasse picked up the win in the 50 lap Late Model main event. Adam Cantor scored his first Seekonk Speedway victory in the NEMA 25 lap feature. 2009 Street Stock Champion Mike Mitchell was victorious in the Street Stock Open, and Rick Martin won his sixth career DAV trophy in the Seekonk Sports Truck/Mini Stock feature.
In the 100 lap True Value Modified 100 lap feature, Mighty Mike Stefanik won his first True Value Modified Racing Series win after taking the last qualifying position in the last qualifier on Saturday. Having to start 22nd out of 24 cars, Stefanik rode around near the back of the field before charging to the front after the halfway point, it was strategy that helped him to win his first race at Seekonk. “We made a decision to save our tires for the second half of the race” Stefanik said. “That was harder for me to do, ride around and wait, then the driving to the front part.”

Seekonk, MA — Seven time NASCAR modified champion Mike Stefanik, Coventry, RI., finally broke the ice Sunday afternoon, winning his first ever True Value Modified Racing Series event and his first ever modified race at Seekonk Speedway, Seekonk, MA.

Newburgh, NY – Millis, MA Driver Tommy Barrett wins again. Tommy has been one of the hottest young drivers in ALNRS history having won an unprecedented 5 out of his last 8 races. Tommy once again graced victory lane with his presence as he won this past weekend’s fall final at the Waterford Speedbowl in Waterford, CT. Tommy took the lead from fellow series standout Paul Tuthill of Washingtonville, NY on lap three and never looked back. With only two quick cautions during the 25 lap feature the battle up front would be between the Tuthill and Sommers, CT driver Cody Gneiting and current point leader James Logan of Dighton, MA. The three drivers along with Barrett would battle for the top spot throughout the race. At the finish line it would be Barrett followed by Gneiting, Tuthill Logan and Bennington, NH driver Kyle Poodiack.
With his fifth win of the 2009 ALNRS Season, Tommy now trials fellow MA. driver James Logan by a mere 10 points heading into the final race of the 2009 Season at Lee USA Speedway in Lee, NH. Barrett is not alone in his quest for his first ALNRS Championship as Tuthill trials him by only 6 points and Logan by 16. As the top three drivers head into the final race each one of them has a mathematical chance of winning the title. The final lap of the 2009 season will ultimately decide who the champion will be. So be sure to be there for the Lee, USA Speedways annual Octoberfest on October 24 & 25 as we crown our 2009 ALNRS Champion.

Epping, NH – Chris Perley became a four-time winner of the prestigious All-Star Classic on Saturday night, tying him with supermodified legend Ollie Silva who also won four. Only two drivers – Bentley Warren and Russ Wood – have won more in the 44 years of the event’s running. Perley’s run to the front of the ISMA Classic Cigar 100 was an exciting and challenging one, as he had to find a way around some tough competition. Ipswich, Mass.’s Justin Belfiore and Canadian Mike Lichty led the way until Perley swapped the point with Lichty after midway to take the lead on lap 66. Lichty stayed with the Vic Miller 11 until the waning laps of the event when the 84 began to fade and Lou Cicconi and Dave Shullick Jr. powered by. Perley, whose last win came on July 25, has felt the loss of some of his competitive edge, uncharacteristically falling out of the top five on two occasions in the last five race events, although staying on top of the point standings. Perley described what brought him back into victory lane.
