Kids Can Win Big Prizes in Wall Stadium’s Turkey Derby Coloring Contest

Wall, NJ — With the entire family an important part of all the professional auto racing action at Wall Stadium, it is only fitting that the third mile paved oval will be directly including children aged 12 and younger during the upcoming Turkey Derby weekend. In fact, the kids can win some great prizes by participating in the first annual “Turkey Derby Coloring Contest!”

Kids up to age 12 can simply go to the speedway website at www.wallspeedway.com and print out a picture of the racing turkey. Kids can then color the picture and submit it to the speedway office on or before November 22. Pictures can be dropped at the track office on any business day or mailed to Wall Stadium, 1803 Highway 34 South, Wall, N.J. 07719 Attn: Coloring Contest. The pictures will be displayed in the grandstand area during Turkey Derby weekend and five winners will be announced on Saturday, November 28. Fifth place will win a Turkey Derby shirt, while fourth place will win an Ace Lane Photo autographed by a driver of the young fan’s choice. Third place will earn a “Family Four Pack” of tickets for Opening Night 2010, while the runner-up will ride off on a new bicycle.

The Grand Prize winner will have a busy summer in 2010 as he or she will win a Child’s Season Pass for the entire 2010 season. Further details about the coloring contest can be obtained by calling the speedway office at 732-681-6400.

Promoter Jim Morton has finalized the schedule for the 36th annual running of the “Turkey Derby.” As has been the case since the outset, Turkey Derby competition is always held during the daylight hours and is presented on Friday and Saturday (Nov. 27 and 28) of Thanksgiving weekend. This year, Sunday afternoon action has been added featuring Enduro style racing.

Friday will be a busy first day of Turkey Derby with practice being offered for all eight divisions that will see competition on the weekend. Late Model stock cars will headline Friday’s racing activities as they compete in a 75-lap feature event. The INEX Legend Cars will compete in a 25-lapper and the Flanagan Retail Development Factory Stocks will wrap up main event action on Turkey Derby Day 1 in a 20-lap feature. Friday will also feature qualifying for all three divisions plus qualifying for the Calabreeze Pools Sportsman cars, the Street Stocks and the Red Bank Sleep Shoppe Modifieds. In addition, the beautifully restored cars of the Garden State Vintage Stock Car Club will be on display in the grandstand area and will take laps around the speedway.

Saturday, November 28, will feature double Modified stock car action with 100-lap main events for both the tour type Modified stock cars and the Red Bank Sleep Shoppe Modified stock cars. In addition, the Sportsman cars and the Street Stocks will each compete in 25-lap main events while the A.T.Q.M.R.A. Three Quarter Midgets will wrap up their season and crown a 2009 driving champion in a 25-lap feature race. In addition to the main event action and practice for all divisions, both the tour type Modifieds and the T.Q. Midgets will compete in qualifying events on Saturday.

For the first time ever, late-November racing action will be carried over to Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend as the shore speedway presents another of it’s popular “$5 Family fun Days.” Heading the Sunday card will be the popular NEETS Enduro Series and that will be joined by the INEX Legend Cars and the 4C SuperModifieds.

Morton also announced that the track will be open for paid practice sessions on Saturdays November 14 and 21. The paid practice sessions, which are being offered in preparation for the Turkey Derby, will begin at 11:00 a.m. and run until 4:00 p.m. both days.

Wall Stadium is located on Route 34 in Wall Township, N.J., just one mile north of Garden State Parkway exit 98 and Interstate 195 exit 35B.
