Dan Flannery Looks to Continue Limited Late Model Success in 2010 at Stafford Motor Speedway

Stafford Springs, CT — After three full seasons of DARE Stock competition at Stafford Motor Speedway, Dan Flannery made the move up to the Limited Late Model division for the 2009 season and came up just short of winning the track championship. Flannery posted a victory to go along with 9 top-5 and 13 top-10 finishes last season, which earned him Reliable Welding and Speed Rookie of the Year honors. Flannery looks forward to a repeat performance on the track this season and being able to climb the final step on the podium and win the track championship at Stafford this season.

“We’re really looking forward to the season,” said Flannery. “We set the bar a little higher for ourselves this year. Our goal is to get a couple of wins and to win the championship this year.”

It could be said that Flannery has some unfinished business when it comes to the track championship. Last season, Flannery was in position on the track to win the championship in the final race of the season, but a flat tire dropped him both out of the race and out of championship contention.

“We were right where we needed to be in the last race and it looked like we had it, but we got a flat right rear under caution and everything that was looking great for us went downhill real fast,” said Flannery. “I was pretty disappointed but looking back now, I can’t be happier with how we did. We never thought we were going to finish second in the points. The Rookie of the Year was our main goal and I thought a top-10 finish in points would have been nice, so we had a great year.”

Flannery’s car is the same car that carried Sean Foster to the 2007 Limited Late Model track championship. Flannery returns to the Limited Late Model division this season with the same car he ran last season, along with a new engine.

“We’re coming back strong this season with a fresh Billy the Kid engine,” said Flannery. “Our crew from last year is intact, so that will be a big plus for us this year. We have some work to do on the car, I hit pretty much everything there was to hit at the Fall Final, so we’re going to rebuild the chassis. We’ll be putting in a lot of 2am nights in the shop from now until the season starts, but we’ll be ready to go for the Sizzler.”
