Hoosier Tests Coming Up For Modified Tour

Tire Tests At Lime Rock, Bristol Next Week

Daytona Beach, FL — Selected drivers from the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour are slated to participate in Hoosier Tire tests at Lime Rock Park and Bristol Motor Speedway next week.

In preparation for the Whelen Modified Tour’s inaugural visit to Lime Rock Park on July 3, Hoosier has invited Ted Christopher, Rowan Pennink, Bobby Santos and Todd Szegedy to test their respective cars at the historic road course in Lakeville, Conn. The test is scheduled for Tuesday, May 11, and will be open to the public.

The July 3 race at Lime Rock will be the first on a road course for the Whelen Modified Tour since the 2000 season. There have been just six previous road course races in the 26-year history, all at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International.

Christopher won the 1999 and 2000 events at Watkins Glen and has five career NASCAR K&N Pro Series East starts at Lime Rock, highlighted by a win in 1997. Szegedy also participated in the 2000 race at The Glen while Pennink and Santos do not have previous Whelen Modified Tour road course racing experience.

Following the success of the inaugural UNOH Perfect Storm 150 at Bristol in 2009, Hoosier will hold a tire test on Thursday, May 13 at the “World’s Fastest Half Mile” in Bristol, Tenn. Invited for the day of testing are the teams of Mike Stefanik, James Civali and Burt Myers.

The 2010 edition of the Whelen Modified-Whelen Southern Modified Tour combination race at Bristol is scheduled for Aug. 18.

Following the test sessions, the next race on the 2010 Whelen Modified Tour schedule will be the TSI Harley-Davidson 125 on Friday, May 28 at Stafford (Conn.) Motor Speedway.
