kA car owner/driver combo with a history of success is aiming high in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series New Hampshire point race in 2010.
Second generation driver Wayne Helliwell Jr, of Dover, N.H., and car owner Bruce Bernhardt of Pelham, N.H., won the 2009 Late Model division championship at Lee (N.H.) USA Speedway, a .375-mile paved oval.
They missed the NASCAR New Hampshire state championship by 17 points behind J.R. Baril, who picked up a part-time ride and state championship points at Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, N.H. He was able to collect enough points between his efforts at Lee and Monadnock to win the state title.

Have you ever been thirsty? Really thirsty? Sometimes we use the expression “dying of thirst” without realizing that you really can die from thirst. When you want to drink and never be thirsty again, drink the living water that comes from Christ. Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
The challenges from the heat of summer take their toll on our bodies. If we don’t hydrate ourselves it can be fatal. I have seen many collapse under the heat and need medical attention. In fact at this year’s Sizzler two people required treatment for dehydration. We need water to live. We also need living water, water that gives eternal life.
As we continue our look at the words of Christ from the cross this week we finally see the human side of Christ. He took care of others and their needs, He took the weight of the world on his shoulders and now he had time for his own needs.
We see the humanness of Christ as he hung on the cross, for three hours that Friday afternoon the sky was dark, the sin of the world was placed squarely on the shoulders of our Lord and Savior. He endured the challenge and as the end neared He cried out, exclaiming His thirst.

Oswego, NY — For the sixth straight year the International SuperModified Association will spend part of Memorial Day weekend at Waterford Speedbowl in Connecticut. This annual event has been the ISMA season opener for four of the six years and it’s always been exciting.
During ISMA’s tenure at Waterford, the feature wins have been divided between four different drivers. Liquid Lou Cicconi took home the inaugural event in 2005 in his basically new 75 super. Cicconi had to evade a six-car pileup and a challenge by Pat Abold in the 26. Randy Ritskes, driving the Budnick 88, Joe Petro and Justin Belfiore rounded out the top five.
In 2006 Justin Belfiore became a patient winner when he made the decision to sit back and wait for things to unfold in front of him. He watched as Rob Summers and Chris Perley drove by early on but three laps later, the three cars ahead of him were victims of lap car-initiated melee that brought out the red. Belfiore held the lead after that and survived a few more incidents before winning the 50-lapper ahead of Dave McKnight, Nokie Fornoro in the Soule 32, Scott Martel and Mike Lichty.

Fans were treated to an incredible night of racing highlighted by the Sunoco Modified main event. Ted Christopher of Plainville, CT, made a thrilling last lap pass to score the victory.
Derek Ramstrom of Worcester, MA, made it three straight in Super Late Model competition. Tommy O’Sullivan of Springfield, MA, was victorious in Late Models while an ailing Chris “Moose” Douton of Waterford, CT, was tops in the Limited Sportsman division. R.J. Marcotte of Millville, MA, scored the TIS Modified feature win while it was a career first for Lloyd Anderson of Wauregan, CT, in the Mini Stocks.
The cagey veteran, Ted Christopher of Plainville, CT, used years of experience to set-up Keith Rocco for a last lap winning pass in a gripping Sunoco Modified feature event. Woody Pitkat set sail to lead the opening laps of the event with Bert Marvin taking chase in the runner-up spot followed by Danny Cates, Keith Rocco, and Rowan Pennink. Pitkat managed to get some breathing room as Marvin, Cates, Rocco, and Pennink battled.
