St. Germain Wins First NETS Race

Winchester, NH — John St. Germain #14 wins New England Truck Series first feature event at Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, NH on Saturday, May 22. St. Germain finished third in the heat with Gee Perry # 83

finishing first. With our rule of redraw top four from the heat race, starting feature line up placed Gee Perry #83 starting fourth in the feature with St. Germain #14 starting on the pole.

The New England Truck Series ran a 20-lap feature event. St. Germain of West Sand Lake, NY who drives the #14 sponsored by DMS Wraps was on the pole with Greg Butler of East Hampton, CT driving the # 85 East Hampton Auto Parts, Storm Tech Cottman Transmission of Portland next to him. The #3 Chevy Truck driven by Derick Chriss, attempted to start the feature on the track only to break down with ignition problems, which delayed the start of the race while a tow truck pushed the truck into the pits ending his night of racing. At the drop of the green flag, St. Germain took the lead with the #85 Greg Butler Truck coming out of turn two falling back between the field of trucks ending up in the rear by turn three. Mean time the #83 of Gee Perry FEB Construction truck with a tight pack raced ahead of the Ford Sponsored EJP Homes Backup truck of Andy Lindeman #12 positioning himself in second by lap two. The #33 sponsored East Hampton Auto Parts Chevy of Dan Butler moved up into fourth position passing his brother coming out of turn four as the #85 Chevy of Greg Butler, which he pulled into the infield with transmission problems that ended his night.

As the field raced on lap seven to the start finish line, the #83 of Gee Perry took the lead from St. Germain on the inside coming out of turn four with the #12 Ford of Lindeman in tow. Rookie driver Craig Cashman of the #6 Chevy Sponsored Dave’s Auto Enterprises out of Marlbough, NH, follows Lindemans line to keep up with the top runners of the race.

Half way mark, the #83 of Perry holds a three-truck length lead while the #33 Dan Butler truck drops back to the rear of the field with the start of handling issues as he fights to keep the truck on the track. By Lap thirteen, the #83 truck start experiencing smoke from the rear with its increase in mass as lap fifteen approaches, trouble was inevitable as he pulled into the infield coming out of turn four. The #83 Gee Perry FEB Construction truck was done for the night with a blown engine. The caution came out for the first time for oil on the track.

The remaining trucks were then set as a single file restart for the last five laps with the #14 truck of St. Germain leading the race. St. Germain crossed the start finish line winning the race, Lindeman finishing second, and Cashman placing third for NETS first event.

The Chevy power #28 sponsored Indian Ridge Motorsports Truck of Willy Auchmoody from Highland, NY in attendance attempted to run the race experienced rear gear problem, then transmission problems in turn prevented him from making the feature event. Hard Luck Award from Speedway One Bodies goes to the #28 Truck.
