Attention Race Fans: Bring Your Coolers, Cans, and Snacks But Please Leave Your Vuvuzela at Home!

Loudon, NH — Race fans coming for this week’s LENOX Industrial Tools 301 events can bring their favorite Coca-Cola products, beer, and tailgating food and snacks; but leave the vuvuzelas at home!

If you’ve watched even five minutes of World Cup soccer, you’ve no doubt heard the droning sound of horns coming from the stands. The vuvuzela, a South African tradition is the long horn fans use throughout the matches. Good for soccer, not so good for “The Magic Mile.”

New Hampshire Motor Speedway executive vice president and general manager Jerry Gappens announced today that the track is banning those annoying noisemakers in the grandstand seating areas. In fact, Gappens will conduct a ceremonial destruction of vuvuzelas during pre-race ceremonies Sunday.

“We love our fans and want everyone to have a great time here during their visit, but I think it is best to leave the vuvuzelas in South Africa at the World Cup,” said Gappens. “Forget engine noise; these pseudo-instruments are truly painful to the ears!”

A long standing NASCAR tradition allows fans to bring their own food and drink into the speedway. There are a few other items that are not allowed, such as glass containers and umbrellas.

Just a little reminder, only coolers or items 14″ and under are permitted into the grandstand area and for your safety all persons, coolers, bags and backpacks are subject to searches.
