Erica Santos Looks for Repeat Trip to CARQUEST Victory Lane in 7th Annual CARQUEST Extreme Tuesday at Stafford Motor Speedway

Stafford Springs, CT –Stafford Motor Speedway welcomes the ISMA Supermodifeds, NEMA Midgets, and Pro-4 Modified cars for a night of open wheel excitement on Tuesday, July 6th for the 7th Annual CARQUEST Extreme Tuesday. Erica Santos will return to the site of her first and thusfar only career NEMA victory and she will look to drive back to victory lane during CARQUEST Extreme Tuesday.

“I always like racing at Stafford,” said Santos. “Last year we didn’t run very well at Stafford, which was disappointing, but hopefully we can have a better run this year. It would mean a lot to me to be able to win again at Stafford. I haven’t won since [2007 CARQUEST Extreme Tuesday] and I definitely want to win again, I don’t want to have only one win in my career.”

Santos will be driving the same #44 for Ed Breault that she drove to victory in the 2007 edition of CARQUEST Extreme Tuesday, which has had two top-5 finished in three races during the 2010 season. Erica piloted the car to a third place finish at Waterford and her brother Bobby finished 5th at Lee Speedway, although Santos says the car had a small motor issue.

“My brother ran the car at Lee and they had a small issue with the motor, he said it wasn’t quite getting all the power,” said Santos. “To win a NEMA race, you have to have everything right on the car. It’s becoming harder and harder to win one of these races, so hopefully we’ll have the motor straightened out when we come to Stafford. You have to have a good handling car and with the long straightaways at Stafford, the motor has to be good. There are a handful of good cars out there like Adam Cantor, Randy Cabral, and Chris DeRitis, they’ll be among the cars to beat.”

In addition to her NEMA duties, Santos is currently ranked third in the Stafford Motor Speedway SK Light Modified points standings driving the #21 for car owner Vern Porter. Santos is still in search of her first win in the SK Lights and she hopes to be among the track championship contenders at the end of the 2010 season.

“We’ve had a real good season in the SK Lights up to this point with the exception of a couple unfortunate wrecks that we were involved in,” said Santos. “If not for those two wrecks that we were in, we’d be right there with the points leaders. My goal for now is to get a win or two and I’d like to be able to race for the championship. Hopefully we can keep the car together and give those guys up front a run for the championship.”

Joining the NEMA Midgets on the CARQUEST Extreme Tuesday card will be the ISMA Supermodifieds and the Pro-4 Modifieds. The ISMA Supermodified feature will be 50-laps, the NEMA Midget feature will be 30-laps, and the Pro-4 Modified feature will be 25-laps. Spectator gates open at 4:15pm, qualifying races begin at 5:45pm, and feature events begin at 7:30pm.
