TC Files first entry for 6th Annual Modified Madness at Seekonk Speedway

Seekonk, MA — With less than two weeks away until the 6th Annual Open Wheel Wednesday, the modified entries are starting to roll in. 2008 NASCAR Whelen Modified Champion and former NASCAR Weekly Racing Series National Champion Ted Christopher hopes that joining forces with defending car owner winner Wayne Darling will pay off with the $10,000 winners’ share. Darling has won the previous two events with Chris Pasteryak (2009) and Matt Hirschman (2008).

Additional entries that have been received for the modified portion are 2008 winner Matt Hirschman, six time Seekonk Speedway Champion and former winner of this event Vinnie Annarummo, seven time NASCAR Modified Champion Mike Stefanik, three time Modified Racing Series and the second winner of this race, Kirk Alexander, Jimmy Kuhn, Todd Annarummo, David Berghman, Rob Summers, and Louie Mechalides. Additional entries continue to roll in daily.

Former winners of this race are Donny Lia, Kirk Alexander, Vinny Annarummo, Matt Hirschman and Chris Pasteryak.

The NorthEast Midget Association will be making their first appearance of 2010 to the famed 1/3 mile oval. The ultra-fast NEMA Midgets started out in 1953 at the southeastern MA oval, and have continued to impress the fans with some great racing ever since. Randy Cabral is the defending race winner.

The Pro4 Modifieds will also be on the schedule for the evening, running a 25 lap main event. Started in the late 70’s, the Pro4 Modifieds return home for their second appearance of the season. Cory Cleary is the defending Open Wheel Wednesday Pro4 winner.

Several drivers will be doing double duty on this night, as the Showdown Of Champions will be a highlighted event for the evening. Pitting drivers in identically prepared NEMA Lite cars in a 25 lap shootout, several drivers have been signed on for the night. Seekonk Champions Fred Astle Jr, Vinny Annarummo and Rick Martin will try to use their experience on the 1/3mile oval to keep NASCAR Champions Ted Christopher and Mike Stefanik, ISMA stars Russ Wood and Chris Perley, NEMA standouts Joey Payne Jr, “Liquid” Lou Cicconi, and ARDC star John Heydenreich. All of these drivers have visited Seekonk’s Victory Lane at least once in their careers, save for Heydenreich. John will be the only driver with limited experience at the famed Massachusetts oval.

Action will start at 7pm, for the 6th Annual Open Wheel Wednesday. Adult admission is $25.00 for this action packed event. For more information, check out our website at seekonkspeedway.com, or catch us on Facebook.
