Modified Racing Series Beech Ridge Bound Aug. 7

Scarborough, ME — With 9 winners in 10 races, a three-way battle developing for the series championship, and eight races remaining on the 2010 schedule, the Modified Racing Series, sponsored by BobValentiAutoMall.Com, heads to Scarborough Maine, Saturday night, Aug 7, to the historic Beech Ridge Motor Speedway for the sixth annual “Beech Ridge 100.” for modified race cars.

Defending series champion, Jon McKennedy, of East Chelmsford, MA., takes a slim seven-point lead into Beech Ridge, a race he won a year ago, with 2006 champion Dwight Jarvis, Ascutney, VT, hot on his heels. Windsor Locks, CT., veteran Les Hinckley has slipped to third, 18 points back. All three are entered.

Maine race fans can expect to see two local drivers compete in this weekend’s event.

David Pinkham, Buxton, ME., winner of the Beech Ridge race in 2005, is expected to enter driving for Auburn, ME., car owner Tom Greeley. Sanford, ME., driver, Jacob Dore, the 2009 Koszela Speed Rookie of the Year, is also entered, driving his family owned and prepared racer.

Recent winner Eric Goodale, Wading River, NY., has entered the event. It will be Goodale’s first time at Beech Ridge. He’ll be joined by veterans Rob Goodenough, Swanzey, NH., Carl Pasteryak, Jewett City, CT., Jack Bateman, Canaan, NH., Mike Holdridge, Madison, CT, and Eddy Spiers, Beacon Falls, CT.

Young hot shoes Steven Masse. Bellingham, MA., Geoff Gernhard, Salem, CT., Todd Annarummo, Swansea, MA., Max Zachem, Preston, CT., and Joey Jarvis, Ascutney, VT. are expected. Zachem and Jarvis both graduated from high school in June

Race Time is 6:00 PM. Beech Ridge Motor Speedway is located on 70 Holmes Rd Scarborough, Maine.

MRS NATION:

The first race at Beech Ridge was in 2005 and won by David Pinkham, substituting for owner/driver Gary Casella driving car # 25. The win was Pinkham’s first modified victory in 10 years.

In 2006, Dale Evonsion scored the win. Kirk Alexander won the 2007 race. The 2008 event was rained out. Jon McKennedy was the 2009 winner

Congratulations to MRS Rookie Todd Anarummo on winning the $10,000 payoff at Seekonk Speedway last week. Four of the top five finishers and seven of the top ten were MRS regulars.

Look for Waterford/Thompson ace Keith Rocco to compete in the Waterford and Thompson MRS races this month in a brand new Troyer mount from car owner Kevin Stuart of Lowell, Mass.

Series driver Mike Keeler and fiancé Kelly Sagnelli recently became the proud parent of a baby girl named Avery.

Chris Pasteryak,injured at Lee July 9, hopes to be back in action by the end of the summer. “Would like to make the Waterford show Labor Day weekend but realistically it looks like the Stafford show Sept 10,” said the 2008 series champion.

Donnie Miller announced this week his family and racing friends raised $ 12, 012 for David’s House at last weeks race at Canaan, NH.
