No. 00 Disqualified for Rule Violation at Waterford Speedbowl

Canaan, NH — The Modified Racing Series has issued the disqualification of the No. 00 team along with a penalty for a rule violation after post race inspection following the MRS event Saturday, August 14th, at the Waterford Speedbowl, Waterford, CT.
The No. 00 team was found to be in violation of Section 1 – Item 9 (DART Head Rule) Letter D (Valve size did not meet specs) of the 2010 Modified Racing Series rule book.

As a result the No.00 team (owner – Joe Brady / driver – Ted Christopher) has been disqualified from the August 14th Waterford Speedbowl event, resulting in no monies paid and no owner or driver championship points received. The No. 00 team will be placed on probation until December 31, 2010.

New England Truck Series to Join Thompson’s “Super 6″ on Thursday

Thompson, CT — The New England Truck Series will make its first of two 2010 appearances this Thursday at the Thompson International Speedway. Truck racing has become a regular part of the yearly schedule at Thompson and fans look forward to their exciting and competitive racing.

New England Truck Series (NETS) points leader, Andy Lindeman will lead the field of race trucks. He will be joined by such tough competitors as Gee Perry, Greg Butler, Jr., Craig Cashman, John St.Germain and many more.

NETS is also a very popular part of the annual World Series of Speedway Racing. This annual season-ending event in October draws hundreds of race cars and trucks and is a full three-day, action packed event that features some fifteen different racing divisions. This week’s event for the race trucks will serve as a great tune up for their October appearance. Joining NETS this Thursday will be Thompson’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Series “Super 6” divisions.

News & Notes: Mod Tours Head To Bristol

UNOH Perfect Storm 150 Combination Race Set For Wednesday

Following the highly-anticipated inaugural appearance for the NASCAR Modifieds at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway a year ago, the UNOH Perfect Storm 150 is back on the schedule for Wednesday, Aug. 18.

This year’s edition will be the lone combination event for the NASCAR Whelen Modified and Whelen Southern Modified Tours. The two Tours will compete for separate points, but for one purse and overall finish, in the combination race format.

With last week’s shake-up in the standings, the UNOH Perfect Storm 150 will carry even more significance for the Whelen Modified Tour championship contenders. Bobby Santos had led through the first four months of competition, but Ted Christopher has won two of the last four races and just supplanted Santos last week at Thompson (Conn.) International Speedway.
