Stafford Springs, CT — Stafford Motor Speedway took to the track with its Final Friday Night Shoot-Out program on September 17th. Ryan Preece outdueled last week’s winner Woody Pitkat to score his first career SK Modified® feature victory in the 40-lap SK Modified® feature, Ryan Posocco scored his fourth win of 2010 in the 30-lap Late Model feature, Tommy Barrett, Jr. scored his 10th win of 2010 in the 20-lap SK Light Modified feature, George Nocera, Jr., won his second consecutive feature of 2010 in spectacular fashion by crossing the start/finish line sideways in the 20-lap Limited Late Model feature, and Jeff Jolly scored his third win of the 2010 season in the 15-lap DARE Stock feature.
In the 40-lap SK Modified® feature event, Chris Jones took the early lead as Curt Brainard got loose in turns 3+4 and slid back from the lead to outside the top-10. Jeff Baral took a ride through the infield grass on lap-5 while battling for second place with Frank Ruocco but was able to keep going and the race stayed green. Jones got sideways on lap-6 in turn 4 which allowed Ruocco to move out front. Ted Christopher moved into second behind Ruocco with Ryan Preece moving into third. Jones fell back to fourth place and Zach Sylvester was fifth.
Christopher spun into the infield with 10 laps complete to bring the caution out. Back under green Ruocco and Preece were side by side for the lead and Preece was able to move by Ruocco in the outside groove on lap-12. Woody Pitkat was third behind Preece and Ruocco with Zach Sylvester and Jones dueling side by side for fourth place. Keith Rocco moved by Mark Bakaj for sixth on lap-14 and began to close in on Sylvester, taking fifth place on lap-15. Just ahead of Ruocco, Pitkat moved by Ruocco to take over second place.

On verge of championship repeat with 2nd New Hampshire win
Loudon, NH — Ryan Truex put a stranglehold on his bid to earn a second consecutive NASCAR K&N Pro Series East championship Friday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway as he took the checkered flag in the New Hampshire 125.
Truex, driver of the No. 00 Michael Waltrip Racing Toyota, inherited the lead on Lap 123 and held on through two green-white-checker finishes for the sweep of the two K&N Pro Series East races at New Hampshire in 2010.
Truex ran up front nearly the entire day, but lost the lead to Alan Tardiff on Lap 111 and was later passed by Corey LaJoie. On Lap 123 LaJoie washed up the track entering Turn 3 while battling Tardiff for the lead and the pair spun out, which resulted in Truex resuming the race lead that he would make stand.

Tardiff, LaJoie Tangle In Closing Laps While Battling For The Win
Loudon, NH — Alan Tardiff didn’t want to talk to Corey LaJoie after the race Friday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, and LaJoie completely understood. Both drivers saw career days spin out of control — quite literally — while battling for the lead with three laps to go in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East New England 125.
LaJoie tried to get under the leader Tardiff on Lap 122 as the pair entered Turn 3 side-by-side, making contact and sending both cars into spins. Tardiff made contact with the outside wall and was done for the day.
“He was using me up a little bit, but I was giving him the lanes,” said Tardiff, who was making just his third start of the season. “I don’t know why he over-drove (Turn 3) — I think he thought it was the only chance he had to move me up the race track. But he just flat-out, cleaned-out turned me.”

Loudon, NH — In a race plagued with late race cautions, it was Ryan Truex behind the wheel of his No. 00 Michael Waltrip Racing Toyota who raced his way to the checkered flag in the New Hampshire 125 sweeping both series races at “The Magic Mile.”
Truex lost the lead with 15 laps to go but when the No. 38 of Allen Tardiff and No. 07 of Corey LaJoie got into each other he took the lead and found his way to victory lane for the second straight time this season.
“I think we definitely had the best car here today, and the best car won,” said Truex. “I really do have to give all the credit to my guys. They’re at the shop everyday working on both the East and Nationwide rides.”

I spent some time this week helping out at a midget driving school and also with the NEMA family as the remembered a couple that meant so much to Midget Racing, Gene and Marilyn Angelillo. I also met some Vintage Midget drivers, one I wanted to share with you. Greetings in the name of
our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
I had just arrived at the credential booth with Ray when a lady tapped me on the shoulder to thank us for publishing the Racer’s Bible. She shared that she had received a copy as a gift and was thrilled. She showed it to her husband and now he is reading it. She introduced herself to us, Dottie Mann. He husband is, among other things, two-time NEMA champ Johnny Mann.
We talked with Johnny as we looked at one of the vintage midgets on display near the celebration tent set up for NEMA at Waterford. He was there to compete in the Vintage race, compete at the age of 83. From the smile on his face you would have thought this was his first and he was excited to get out there. He shared his memories of the glory days, the smile never left his face. He truly had found joy and contentment. He, along with his wife Dottie, has seen many a race day and many a track but based on the look he had on his face they were all like the first time.
