NEAR Releases 2011 Schedule, Deadline Looms For Hall of Fame Induction Ticket Purchase

The New England Antique Racers (NEAR), kicks-off its 30th anniversary with an appearance at the 2011 Frank Maratta Auto & Cycle Show Jan. 28-30 in Hartford, CT. It begins a busy agenda for the club.

New Hampshire’s Monadnock Speedway hosts the first of eight running shows on Saturday, May 7. There are several still displays and a number of early-season “test & tune” sessions at both Connecticut’s Thompson Speedway, and Lee USA Speedway in New Hampshire.

Ticket order deadline is January 16, 2011 for The 14th annual New England Auto Racing Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony January 30th at the LaRenaissance Banquet Hall in East Windsor, CT. There will be no ticket sales at the door.

In other news Bob Seller was reelected to a two-year term as NEAR president. Also elected were Vice President Jim Splettstoeszer; Treasurer Rhonda Blanchette and Secretary Mare Harlow.

Receiving participation awards for their support of 2010 events were Art Chartier, Jim Torok, the Seller-Blanchette Team, Fred LeVangie, Bill Cummins, Gary LaFlash, Pete Newsham, and Mark Pellegrini received awards for their support of 2010 events.

Media contact Dave Dykes was presented with the Charlie Stebbins Dedication Award for his contributions in 2010.

Jack Bateman, the force behind the Valenti Modified Series, won the prestigious Frank Maratta Award.

Founded in 1981, the New England Antique Racers club is a non-profit organization that supports the history of New England auto racing. Members live throughout New England and are available, on a no-charge basis, for exhibition events at local race tracks and car shows in New England and several tracks in the New York area, with both original and historical replica race cars.
