Racin’ Preview Up Next for Busch North Scene Book Tour

Busch Sport Scene Publisher George Campbell will be signing copies of his new book, Busch North Scene: A Ten Year Retrospective at the Racin’ Preview 2011 show this weekend at the Portland Expo in Portland, Maine.

The Busch North Scene book was released in late November with a book launch that was held at the Hilton Garden Inn in auburn, Maine. Since then the book has been a very popular seller among race fans from the New England region. The “Ten Year Retrospective” book recaps the racers, teams and events that shaped the NASCAR Busch North Series during the 2000 decade. The book has fun and informative personal reflections from George and Busch North Scene staff members, as well as many of the personalities that made the series popular in the decade.

The book gives NASCAR fans from New England an inside look at the stars from the region during the late 1990s and the 2000 decade. Within the book’s 330+ pages are over 125 photos mixed with personal reflections and amusing anecdotes on the drivers and events. Among the drivers covered in the book are Maine racers Ricky Craven, Andy Santerre, Joe Bessey, Tracy Gordon and Kelly Moore. NASCAR Champions like Mike Olsen, Dave Dion, Brad Leighton, Dale Shaw and Joey Logano are featured as well.

“My intention with the book was to look back at the 2000 decade that I covered in depth with my newspaper and share some of the stories and insights on the drivers and events that made the sport so successful and fun during that time,” Campbell said.

Campbell will be signing copies of the books on Friday evening and throughout the day on Saturday at the Maine Vintage Race Car Association display. There will be many people from the book making appearances at the MVRA booth over the course of the two day show. Eight-time Busch North Series winner Mike Rowe will be among the racing personalities at the booth on both Friday and Saturday nights with a car that he raced around 1980 at Oxford Plains Speedway.

There will be a limited show special on hard bound first edition copies of the Busch North Scene book. The first 50 hardbound copies will be discounted at just $25 apiece as well as free gifts with each book purchased. There will also be free copies of the final issue of Busch Sport Scene available for race fans attending the show.

Doors at the Portland Expo open at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 25, with several autograph opportunities and other activities ongoing through 10:00 p.m. Saturday show hours are 9:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. The Portland Expo is located next to Hadlock Field on Park Avenue (US Route 1) in Portland, Maine.
