Green Flag Drops at 88th Loudon Classic

Loudon, NH — New Hampshire Motor Speedway became a Mecca for motorcycles today when the green flag dropped on the 88th running of the Loudon Classic.

The sun shined early when the fan favorite sidecar racers took to the 1.6-mile road course for their first round of practice sessions and an eight-lap featured race.

Local riders from the Loudon Road Race Series raced eight different classes this afternoon immediately following qualifying for the exclusive Loudon Classic race tomorrow.

The Sideways Promotions asphalt program provided an action-packed, paved, short track race this evening for the first time at “The Magic Mile.” Professional riders used modified dirt bikes as they raced the speedway’s quarter-mile oval, which includes part of the NASCAR track.

LRRS star Shane Narbonne from Tyngsboro, Mass., continued his winning ways at the speedway, this time it was on a dirt bike.

“This was my first pavement race on a dirt bike,” said Narbonne. “Today’s been good. The bike’s been good. I have practiced these so I have a little advantage on these guys out here.”

Young Tyler Sweeney came out and won his first race on pavement this evening.

“I’ve never done anything like this before, it was pretty fun,” said Sweeney. “It’s not that different from dirt. I’d definitely do it every weekend.”

The 88th annual Loudon Classic runs through Sunday. Tickets are available at the Main Gate. For more information on this or any of the other major events at “The Magic Mile” call (603)783-4931 or visit www.nhms.com.
