Garbo, Ternullo, Brouwer and Voglesong Take Down Repeat Wins on Season

Waterford, CT — Wild ‘n Wacky action returned to the Speedbowl Wednesday evening, dodging raindrops from Mother Nature and putting five winners in Victory Lane. Scoring wins on the night included Dave Garbo Jr. of Stonington in the Legends Cars, Joey Ternullo of Middletown won his fourth Bandolero feature on the year, John Brouwer Jr. of Groton took his second win in Super X-Car action and Brad Voglesong of Middletown won an entertaining extra-distance X-Car feature. Taking home the crown as king of the Musical Car Wacky Race was Dan Moon of Exeter, RI.

The 20-lap Legends Cars feature saw past track champion Jason Palmer move into the race lead past Carl Blandina on lap-1. Palmer led by nearly a full straightaway length by the time a caution flag was finally displayed on lap-10. Prior to the caution the action behind Palmer was very entertaining as a pack of cars raced for the top-five positions behind the leader. Blandina, Troy Talman, Angelo Belsito and Ed Field were the early leaders but Dana Dimatteo, Joey Mucciacciaro and Garbo were all in hot pursuit. By the time the caution was out for Nick Lascuola at halfway, Dimatteo was in second, Garbo third, and Mucciacciaro fourth.

Garbo was on a mission when racing resumed. He raced from third place past the inside of Dimatteo, then jumped to Palmer’s outside on lap-11. Dimatteo tried to assert himself under Garbo in turn one on lap-12, got loose and gathered his car back up. That left Garbo all alone to power outside Palmer for the race lead. Garbo drove around the leader, moving ahead until a caution waved on lap-14.
