Preece, Posocco, Galko, Thibeault & Saunders Score Lincoln Tech 80 Feature Victories at Stafford Speedway

Stafford Springs, CT — Stafford Speedway was back racing on August 12th with the Lincoln Tech 80 event. In NASCAR Whelen All-American Series feature racing, Ryan Preece scored his third win of the 2011 season in the SK Modified® feature, Ryan Posocco scored his second win of the 2011 season in the 30-lap Late Model feature, Matt Galko nailed down his fourth win of 2011 in the 20-lap SK Light Modified feature, Shawn Thibeault picked up his fourth win of the 2011 season in the 20-lap Limited Late Model feature, and Albert Saunders picked up his first win of the 2011 season in the 15-lap DARE Stock feature.

In the 40-lap SK Modified® feature event, Chris Matthews took the lead at the green flag with Michael Gervais, Jr. moving into second. Gervais moved by Matthews to take over the race lead on lap-2. Nichole Morgillo moved by Matthews for second, with Dan Avery moving into third, Frank Ruocco moved into fourth, and Glen Reen moved into fifth as Matthews fell back to seventh place behind Sean Foster. The caution came out with 3 laps complete as Curt Brainard developed a flat left front tire and Michael Bennett spun to avoid the slowing car of Brainard.

Back under green, Dan Avery made a move to the inside of Gervais to take over the lead as Ruocco moved into second. Reen was third, with Ryan Preece and Gervais side by side for fourth, but the caution came back out with 4 laps complete for spins by Matthews and Bennett.

On the restart, Morgillo dropped off the pace and Tom Bolles scraped the backstretch wall, but the race stayed green with Avery in the lead ahead of Reen, Preece, Ruocco, and Gervais. The caution came back out with 6 laps complete as Morgillo came to a stop on the pit road entrance.

Keith Rocco Wins Lincoln Tech 80 Modified Racing Series Feature at Stafford Speedway

Stafford Springs, CT — Keith Rocco continued his winning ways at Stafford Speedway as he picked up his first career Modified Racing Series victory in the Lincoln Tech 80. The race was started on June 24th, but rain halted the race with 32 laps complete. Rocco was the race leader when the rain came and he had to fight off strong challenges from Matt Hirschman and then Todd Owen to take the victory as he led the final 47 laps of the race.

With the race taking the green flag on June 24th, Keith Rocco led the field to the green and he led the first lap of the race before Chris Pasteryak went to the front on lap-2. Dave Etheridge followed Pasteryak by Rocco as Rocco fell from the lead back to third place. Matt Hirschman was in fourth and Doug Coby rounded out the top-5 in the early laps.

The top-5 ran in line until lap-11 when Rocco moved past Etheridge for second. Rocco continued his charge back to the front on lap-13 when he made a power move to the inside of Pasteryak in turn 3 to retake the lead.

The top-4 cars were beginning to pull away from Coby in fifth, while Josh Sylvester, Steve Masse, and Todd Owen were lined up behind Coby. The first caution came out with 25 laps complete as Mike Holdridge spun, which erased the margin that the top-4 cars had built up.

Sprague and Robidoux get redemption; Logan picks up Allison Legacy North win; Rolando and Donovan win SYRA Mains

On August 12th, the ”Fast Friday” program returned to the Seekonk Speedway for an action packed night of entry level racing. The Seekonk Youth Racing Association 600 and 750 classes, the Sport Four division, the Allison Legacy North Series, and Pure Stocks, took to the “Action Track of the East,” and Curtis Rolando, Kaitlyn Donovan, Rich Sprague, James Logan, and John Robidoux notched the victories.

In the SYRA 600s feature, Taylor Bowser sat on the pole and led the sixteen laps of the race. However, with four laps to go, while racing Chase Belcher for the lead, contact was made, sending Chase around, putting Bowser to the rear of the field on the restart, setting up a four lap sprint to the finish between Curtis Rolando and Austin Blais. Rolando held on to his ground on the inside line, and despite the rookie’s best efforts to surpass the points leader on the outside, Rolando obtained the victory by .050 seconds, less than a half car length.

Most of the SYRA 750 feature was run caution free, although there was plenty of action. In the opening laps, Branden Dion and Adam Swift each advanced their positions to second and third behind leader Kaitlyn Donovan. Swift passed Dion for second on lap seventeen. While battling for third, Dion and Lascuola made contact in turn one and spun, bringing out the yellow flag and setting up a green-white-checkered finish. On the restart, Donovan fended off Swift and Willy Sanchez to pick up her first win of the season.
