Stafford Springs, CT — Stafford Speedway was back racing on August 12th with the Lincoln Tech 80 event. In NASCAR Whelen All-American Series feature racing, Ryan Preece scored his third win of the 2011 season in the SK Modified® feature, Ryan Posocco scored his second win of the 2011 season in the 30-lap Late Model feature, Matt Galko nailed down his fourth win of 2011 in the 20-lap SK Light Modified feature, Shawn Thibeault picked up his fourth win of the 2011 season in the 20-lap Limited Late Model feature, and Albert Saunders picked up his first win of the 2011 season in the 15-lap DARE Stock feature.
In the 40-lap SK Modified® feature event, Chris Matthews took the lead at the green flag with Michael Gervais, Jr. moving into second. Gervais moved by Matthews to take over the race lead on lap-2. Nichole Morgillo moved by Matthews for second, with Dan Avery moving into third, Frank Ruocco moved into fourth, and Glen Reen moved into fifth as Matthews fell back to seventh place behind Sean Foster. The caution came out with 3 laps complete as Curt Brainard developed a flat left front tire and Michael Bennett spun to avoid the slowing car of Brainard.
Back under green, Dan Avery made a move to the inside of Gervais to take over the lead as Ruocco moved into second. Reen was third, with Ryan Preece and Gervais side by side for fourth, but the caution came back out with 4 laps complete for spins by Matthews and Bennett.
On the restart, Morgillo dropped off the pace and Tom Bolles scraped the backstretch wall, but the race stayed green with Avery in the lead ahead of Reen, Preece, Ruocco, and Gervais. The caution came back out with 6 laps complete as Morgillo came to a stop on the pit road entrance.
Stafford Springs, CT — Keith Rocco continued his winning ways at Stafford Speedway as he picked up his first career Modified Racing Series victory in the Lincoln Tech 80. The race was started on June 24th, but rain halted the race with 32 laps complete. Rocco was the race leader when the rain came and he had to fight off strong challenges from Matt Hirschman and then Todd Owen to take the victory as he led the final 47 laps of the race.
