NEMA Champ Randy Cabral Makes USAC DMA Debut This Saturday at Bear Ridge Speedway

Bradford, VT — When the USAC DMA Midgets scream onto the track at Bear Ridge Speedway on Saturday night, they’ll have a new driver among their ranks. Multi-time NorthEastern Midget Association Champion Randy Cabral of Plymouth, MA will be making his career first start with the wingless midget organization, wheeling a car owned by Rusty Tefft.

“I love racing on dirt,” said Cabral, who has 30 NEMA wins on pavement. “I’m sure I’d enjoy running with the ARDC, but the DMA Midgets are so much more affordable and so much closer to home that I really can’t pass up the opportunity. My plans seem to get changed six times a day, but right now, I’m definitely planning on racing the last two DMA shows at Bear Ridge.”

A full field of cars is anticipated, including an entry driven by former Indy 500 Rookie of the Year Denny Zimmerman. A third car from the Seal-It team should be on hand, with a well known driver whose name will be announced at the track on Saturday.

The USAC DMA Midgets race for both USAC national points and Bear Ridge Speedway points and the battle for supremacy in both categories is as tight as a drum. With two races remaining to be run, “Flatfoot” Joe Krawiec leads Scott Holcomb 312 to 304 in Bear Ridge points while 69 year old New England Auto Racing Hall of Famer Ray Miller sits in third with 282 “The Fairlee Flier” Kevin Chaffee is in the hunt with 274. In USAC points it’s Krawiec 307 and Holcomb 287.

A full card of racing, including the Bond Auto DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds, the Wells River Chevrolet Coupes and the North East Mini Sprints gets underway at 6:00 pm this Saturday night at Bear Ridge Speedway, which is easy to reach via either I-91 or Vermont Route 25.
