Preview Of Upcoming Plainville Stadium Reunion To Be Featured On Gary Danko’s Speedway Line Report Radio Show

Longtime local racing personality Gary Danko will present a unique preview of the upcoming 3rd Annual Plainville Stadium Reunion on the Monday, October 3 edition of his popular radio show, The Speedway Line Report.

Airing on WATR 1320 AM each week, and available live on Monday evenings at 6:00 via the Internet at www.garydanko.speedwaylinereport.com, the show is presented by Shaller Acura Of Manchester, CT. The Internet broadcast is courtesy of Tom Ormsby’s fine family of www.vintagemodifieds.com websites.

Both Danko and Ormsby have definitive ties to Plainville; Danko as a young fan getting his first-taste of the sport, and Ormsby as a former competitor in the modified division.

Guests will include some of the personalities that made the late Connecticut ¼-miler which closed at the dawn of the 1980s such a special place for area race fans.

Plainville legends scheduled to take the microphone include New England Auto Racing Hall of Fame member and Plainville 7-time champion & all-time modified winner Dave Alkas and his longtime car owner Roland Cyr. Also present will be the much-accomplished Don Moon, another big Stadium winner who also tasted success at many other tracks during his long, storied career.

Add-in 1969 track champion Don Spazano, Fred Alkas, longtime official track photographer Phil Hoyt, and reunion organizer Gary Bienkowski of the Nutmeg Kart Club and the show should present some unique perspectives on what made Plainville so-special during it’s heyday.

Presented in conjunction with the Nutmeg Kart Club and the Berlin Lions Club World of Wheels, this year’s edition of the Plainville Stadium Reunion takes-place Saturday, October 8th from 10am – 4pm at the Berlin Fair Grounds located 430 Beckley Road, East Berlin, Ct.

Also on the agenda is a full schedule of Go Kart competition including an “Old-Timers” race for former Plainville competitors in addition to events for Officials, Mechanics, and a “Powder-Puff Derby” for the ladies.

The appearance of several vintage race cars adds to the days festivities. The New England Antique Racers (NEAR) mobile Hall of Fame display is also expected to be present.

Coming-off another successful season of competition on the Berlin Lions Club 1/12-mile World Karting Association dirt oval, the two organizations have teamed to make the day a family-priced event. Adult admission is only $5.00, with kids under-12 free.

The rain date is Sunday, October 9.
