Thompson Adds Major Event to this Year’s World Series

Thompson, CT — The Thompson International Speedway today announced that the Valenti Modified Racing Series will be added to this year’s World Series of Speedway Racing in October. The VMRS will be the featured event on Saturday night, October 13th.

“We are very pleased to be able to add the VRMS to our biggest event of the year,” said track owner Don Hoenig. We have always taken pride in presenting the very best and most popular racing divisions in the northeast every year at our World Series and the addition of the Valenti Modifieds continues that tradition,” he concluded. This will mark the first time that this very popular northeast Modified touring series will be part of the World Series

The World Series of Speedway Racing is a spectacular event and the Valenti Modified Racing Series will take center stage in the Saturday portion of the weekend. They will practice, qualify and compete in a 75-lap feature event that will be a huge addition to the incredible lineup of race cars and stars that make the World Series so special.

Many drivers will be looking forward to this addition to the World Series since they compete in both the NWMT and the VRMS. Some of the drivers that have raced in both series this year include Rowan Pennink, Doug Coby, Ted Christopher, Todd Szegedy and more. The NWMT drivers that compete in the 75-lap Saturday night race will face VMRS regulars like Jon McKennedy, Norman Wrenn, Chris Pasteryak and a host of other top VMRS regulars.

Already a long-standing part of the World Series tradition, in addition to the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, are the ISMA Super Modifieds, NEMA Midgets, Thompson’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions, the New England Race Trucks, Pro Four Modifieds and a host of “outlaw” divisions.

Thompson management is still working on the details of the schedule for the World Series weekend so that everything will fit smoothly into this incredible lineup of race cars and race trucks. This schedule is expected to be released soon and will be posted on the Thompson web page. www.thompsonspeedway.com
