Christopher Secures 2013 Mod Tour Plans

Will Team With BRE Full-Time Starting With Daytona

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – After a trial run between the two parties in 2012, Ted Christopher and Boehler Racing Enterprises are set to contend for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour championship together in 2013.

“BRE Racing is very excited to team up with Ted Christopher for the 2013 Whelen Modified Tour season,” said team president Michael Boehler. “The whole team is busy preparing race cars for next season and we will be ready to start in Daytona at the UNOH Battle At The Beach.”

Christopher, from Plainville, Conn., raced BRE’s famed No. 3 “Ole Blue” four times a year ago after the 2008 Whelen Modified Tour champion’s former full-time team closed operations. Despite the long Modified tenures of both driver and team, it marked their first venture together.

Christopher recorded an average finish of 11th in six total points races under the BRE banner in 2012, with a best finish of fourth at Thompson International Speedway in August. Additionally, last year’s effort together was highlighted by a visit Victory Lane in the non-points UNOH Showdown at Thompson in September.

The pairing has plenty of potential to provide mutual benefit. Christopher, currently with 42 triumphs, is just two checkered flags shy of tying Reggie Ruggiero for second on the Whelen Modified Tour’s all-time wins list. Likewise, despite having a tradition that now extends to its sixth decade and includes six NASCAR Modified titles, BRE is looking for its first points race win since the 2009 season. Christopher has won nine times during BRE’s drought.

“Ted's track record on the tour and in open wheel Modifieds speaks for itself, and for him to drive Ole Blue for the upcoming season for us, it has everyone pumped up,” Boehler said. “I would like to thank all our loyal sponsors that are coming back this season to help out: Silver Dollar Construction, Cape Cod Copper, Riverview Industries, Big Wheel Truck Sales, T. Moreshead Landscaping, Craig's Trucking, M&T Enterprises and John Lukosavage.”

Before they can start their championship chase, Christopher and BRE will look to make it 2-for-2 in non-points races together when they head to Florida for the UNOH Battle At The Beach, Feb. 18-19 at Daytona International Speedway. In addition to the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tours, the NASCAR K&N Pro Series and NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Models will all contest 150-lap features as part of the inaugural short-track event during Budweiser Speedweeks.
