QUALIFYING: Myers Wins Caraway Pole
Second Straight For Veteran; Record 26th Of Tour Career
ASHEBORO, N.C. – Burt Myers won the Coors Light Pole Award in NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour qualifying on Saturday for the Zooland 150 at Caraway Speedway.
Myers of Walnut Cove, N.C., got around the .455-mile oval in 15.906 seconds for an average speed of 102.980 mph. It’s the second straight pole win for the veteran, but neither race has yet to be run. He picked up his first of the season on Sept. 21 at Southern National Motorsports Park in Kenly, N.C., but bad weather arrived before the green flag could wave. The race has been rescheduled for Saturday, Oct. 5. Myers extended his tour record for career poles to 26 with a tour-best 13 of those coming at Caraway.
Andy Seuss with a qualifying time of 15.955 seconds (102.664 mph) will start alongside Myers on the front row. Seuss started from the pole and won in his last outing on Sept. 8 at Caraway. Points leader George Brunnhoelzl III will start third after posing a time of 15.964 seconds (102.606 mph) followed by Tim Brown with a time of 15.970 seconds (102.567 mph). Kyle Ebersole was fifth-fastest in qualifying with a 15.990-second lap (102.439 mph).
Luke Fleming, John Smith, Danny Bohn, J.R. Bertuccio and A.J. Winstead rounded out the top 10.
The Zooland 150 is scheduled to get underway at approximately 8:30 p.m. ET.
