QUALIFYING: Record Run for Preece

Sets Langley Mark, Collects 4th Straight Southern Tour Pole

HAMPTON, Va. — Ryan Preece continued his mastery of NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour tracks, earning the Coors Light Pole Award Saturday for the Courtyard by Marriott/Pepsi 150 with a track-record at Langley Speedway.

Preece, the defending NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion, collected his fourth straight pole award in the southern tour with a lap of 14.675 seconds (97.145 mph) around the .396-mile oval. He broke the mark set by Andy Seuss of 14.711 (96.513) in 2013.

Seuss qualified second Saturday at 14.817 (96.214). The points leader has won two of the first three races of the season.

Danny Bohn qualified third at 14.823 (96.175), followed by George Brunnhoelzl III and JR Bertuccio.

Rookie Joe Ryan Osborne, Thomas Stinson, Burt Myers, Luke Fleming and Brian Loftin rounded out the top 10.

The Courtyard by Marriott/Pepsi 150 is set for green flag at 8 p.m.
