QUALIFYING: Santos Scores Another Pole
Eighth Career Whelen Mod Pole At Stafford, 15th Overall
STAFFORD, Conn. – Two night races and two Coors Light Pole Awards for Bobby Santos in NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour action this summer at Stafford Motor Speedway.
Santos, from Franklin, Massachusetts, posted a fast lap of 18.433 seconds (97.651 mph) to secure the pole position for tonight’s Call Before You Dig 811 150. It marked his 15th career pole in Whelen Modified Tour competition; eight have now come at Stafford, including two in a row. He was also the top tour qualifier at the historic half-mile in June.
Santos’ No. 44 Tinio Racing/ImperialCars.com Chevrolet will be joined on the front row by the No. 88 Buzz Chew Chevrolet/Elbow East Chevrolet driven by Woody Pitkat, who posted a fast lap of 18.435 (97.640) to qualify second. Donny Lia, who led afternoon practice, qualified third at 18.458 (97.519).
Ted Christopher, Doug Coby, Ron Silk, Ryan Preece, Patrick Emerling, Rowan Pennink and Justin Bonsignore rounded out the top 10 qualifiers.
Coby is the two-time defending winner of the event, and the current season points leader.
The Call Before You Dig 811 150 is slated to take the green flag at approximately 9:15 p.m.
