Dillon Moltz Picks Up First GSPSS Victory in the Star Classic 100

Epping, NH (September 7, 2014) — Thrillin’ Dillon Moltz of Waterford, CT. became the newest winner for the Granite State Pro Stock Series on Sunday, which has seen 9 different winners in 9 races in the 2014 season, picking up the win at Star Speedway in the NH Classic 100. Moltz started on the pole in the 16 car field and led all 100 laps, en route to his win.

Moltz and Derek Griffith brought the field down and ran one-two until the first of three cautions came out on the second circuit, when Tom Carey Jr spun in the second turn.

Once back under way, point leader Matt Frahm moved underneath Griffith, and after battling for several laps, took over the second position. Griffith settled into third, with Larry Gelinas fourth. The top of the field ran nose to tail, until the second caution came out on lap 36, when Bobby Cabral slid up against the wall in turn two.

Frahm held onto second on the restart, with Griffith and Gelinas in tow, but the driver on the move was Brad Babb, who started thirteenth on the grid. By the half-way point, Babb moved into the top five and settled in, about 6 car lengths behind Gelinas. Using lapped traffic to his advantage, Griffith moved past Frahm for second on lap 73.

The final caution of the event came out at the three-quarter mark, when Adam Norton went up in smoke, ending his day.

Frahm moved back into second on the restart and chased Moltz to the finish, but came up a car length short at the Sunoco checkers. Griffith, Babb and Gelinas rounded out the top five. Heat wins went to Gelinas and Griffith.

The Granite State Pro Stock Series Tournament Challenge presented by Victory Lane Radio and 360 Design Lab continued at the NH Classic, with Larry Gelinas advancing past Barry Gray, and Matt Frahm besting Brad Babb. Frahm and Gelinas will do battle at White Mountain Motorsports Park for their chance at $500, with second place receiving $200. This is the second time Gelinas is in the finals for the Tournament Challenge.
