Pitkat Prepares for World Series Weekend

Pitkat Confirms 2015 Plans, Seeking Return to Victory Lane

Former track champion Woody Pitkat of Stafford, CT will have a busy weekend ahead at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park. He will compete in three races of the Sunoco World Series, including the No. 42 in Saturday night’s 75-lap Valenti Modified Racing Series feature. Sunday will find him in the No. 00 Jimmy Paige Sunoco Modified, and the No. 88 for Buzz Chew in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.

Pitkat confirmed that he will return to the No. 88 Buzz Chew Chevrolet/Elbow East car for 2015 . He opened the season with his first pole at Thompson’s Icebreaker. Pitkat was victorious in front of his hometown crowd when he won the Call Before You Dig 811 150 at Stafford in August for his first victory. He added the F.W. Webb 100 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway last month as well.

The weekly divisions at Thompson will have points races during the October classic. This has not been the case in recent seasons, along with the seven event schedule for the 5/8 mile oval in northeast Connecticut. Pitkat is 11th in the standings entering the season finale.

“It would be nice to win (the) SK race since I haven’t won one all year,” Pitkat said.

Pikat is tied for eighth with Rich Barry (38) on the track’s win list, just ahead of NEAR Hall of Famers Ron Bouchard (37), Richie Evans (36) and three time champion Keith Rocco (35).
